THE CATHOLIC Bishop of Konongo Mampong, the Most Rev. Joseph Osei Bonsu, has challenged the Catholic Youth to be intellectuals of the church, and for the nation as a whole.
He urged them to study hard and aim at achieving academic excellence and avoid academic mediocrity, by trying to be “first or among the first” in their various disciplines.
Addressing the 35th Annual General Council Meeting of the Ghana National Catholic Youth Council (GHANYC) at the Spiritan University College at Ejisu on the theme: “We have set our hope on the Living God,” the Bishop observed that the Catholic intellectual, is the one who constantly seeks to understand the faith that he has embraced, meaning that as one strives to pursue academic and professional excellence in one’s field of study, the Catholic intellectual should try to deepen his knowledge of Catholic faith, especially of the scriptures on which that faith is based.
