I’m going to sounds like a pessimist here, but I think I am being more of a realist.

Of millions of tries they reported being successful 900 times. I don’t know how many millions, but let’s say 2 since that is the minimum plurality of millions.
900/2,000,000 = 0.00045. That’s a 0.45% success rate. Now if I take the number of molecules in my body and assume that they are communicated at that same success rate (which is a generous assumption since instead of just photons we have protons and chemical bonds) I can only imagine a gelatinous mass of or organic compounds successfully making it to the other end. I’d have much better chances making it to somewhere alive on a 737-Max.

It’s very unlikely you’ll ever be able to teleport yourself or even a glass, but it’s good for communication/connections. The principles of quantum mechanics is being used, but as things become bigger it becomes less probable, quantum effects don’t manifest on a larger scale, probability is highly unlikely.

I think this may become a thing of the future, however, they must find a way to go from a 0.45% success rate to a 100% success rate. I might also settle for 99.9999%. And they’ll need to figure out how to do it for humans. Maybe in 50 years or so…

I’m just amazed this is even possible, even if it is a single particle of matter. It’s counterintuitive that anything could exist in two places at once (if that’s an accurate characterization of how this works).

It’s rare that something that is a staple of science-fiction actually comes true.

Like Spock being half-human and half-Vulcan (unless there’s some kind of biological relationship between the two which a Next Generation episode did explicate but I think that failed to become established lore).

Their organs are in different places than ours, if I remember correctly. So would some of Spock’s organs be arranged human-style and some Vulcan-style? Whenever McCoy has to operate on him he seems to freak out based on the unfamiliar biology so that would suggest Spock is all-Vulcan biologically.

No you are right and Vulcans also have green blood. I used to wonder how they interbred as well even when I was a lot younger.
I do remember the TNG episode which explained it somewhat with the humanoid group that found no others like them so they seed the Galaxy and that explained the different evolution of humanoids on each class “M” planet but even so you would think interbreeding would be difficult. We can’t interbreed with different species on Earth. It might take some manipulation or artificial reproduction but that wasn’t explained in the shows.
As for the OP I won’t be making the trip anytime soon, unless the success rate goes to 99.9%!
Remember those ST episodes where several characters were afraid of the transporter?
