Franklin Graham and Russian MP against beauty and the beast being ok for children. Glad to see some are taking a stand. Wish the Catholic church was taking a stronger stand. Don’t you think our first Pope, and many to follow would at least say something???

What’s wrong with beauty and the Beast?

Just curious- never heard of this.

It has a gay promotional part in it. I realize that the LBGT agenda will continue to make its way to more and more to the media and films. But this is a PG film by Disney aimed at children.

Haven’t watched it yet, but a friend of mine did and she said it wasn’t really “in your face”. Most of the reviews I seen so far said the same thing. But like I said, i haven’t seen it yet.

My country gave it a PG rating which is kind of surprising because gay scenes are usually edited out on TV.

But anyway, if you are wondering why the outrage is not huge in the Catholic community, it’s because it’s not the first children’s show/movie that have done this. And singling out homosexuality amongst other “sins” when it comes to the media just come across as homophobic (I hate that word because it has been abused so much when it comes to standing up for our beliefs but you know what I mean)

I personally feel that our leaders should just talk about how parents should be careful about their children’s exposure to the media in general. Just my 2 cents.

I suppose some people, such as Franklin Graham, have nothing better to do with their time. Pope Francis and the Catholic Church are (I hope) much too wise to get involved in such a, I believe, ridiculous boycott.

Mp meaning prime minister or mp meaning moscow patriarchate?

This strikes me as akin to the alleged “gay moment” in Frozen, a “blink if you’d miss it” moment. Though the Frozen scene is only “gay” if you insist on such an interpretation. Yes, an adult male sauna/convenience store owner calls out to his “family” and then we see a group of mostly kids with one adult male. But that does NOT automatically mean this adult male is the sauna owner’s lover. It could be the oldest son (and hence old enough to be portrayed as physically a “man” and not a “boy”), or a younger brother.

And even the B+B Reboot scene mentioned here isn’t even definitely “gay” if the “gay” man is also seen dancing with a woman. So either he’s actually bisexual, or maybe he just really likes to dance.

What actually makes this a “gay scene” is merely because the director of the movie actually did state it was meant to be one.

In any case I don’t plan on seeing this movie anyway because the animated version is enough for me. But I recall LeFou drooling over Gaston in the original, too, but I think people were slightly more innocent in the 1990s and saw that as just him being a sycophant.

Much as I think most people interpret the Peter Pettigrew / Wormtail character as a sycophant of James Potter, not actually gay for him. And AFAIK JKR hasn’t even hinted this was the case, when she was happy to “clarify” that yes, Dumbledore’s attraction to Grindelwald was gay, and Bellatrix’s fanatic devotion to Voldemort was also about sexual attraction, albeit a straight one, not a gay one.

Most of these boycott movements are ridiculous, but this one seems even more ridiculous than usual.

👍 and the director says its intended to be a gay scene. Who would put their money in something like this when there is better wholesome entertainment blows my mind! In my opinion Disney should be boycotted all together. This is just one of many promotions of the gay, anti life, and feminist agenda.

No. Boycotts are free publicity, and they only encourage people to see what all the fuss is about.

Want this movie to go away? Stop. Talking. About. It.

I don’t understand boycotts. A few people not seeing a movie isn’t going to make a difference to Disney’s bottom line.

I suppose I could see it as a Quixotic tilting at windmills, but too often that ends up looking silly rather than noble. A minister in our town has started a campaign to take To Kill a Mockingbird off the high school required reading list because it has a handful of swear words. My husband is having a blast defending the book - the battle is taking place in the Letters to the Editor section of our weekly paper. 😃

A lot of kids probably wouldn’t know or care about the gay scene. Maybe some wouldn’t even understand it and think it’s OK.

One of the secondary characters is gay and everyone has their knickers in a twist about it. Much ado about nothing. Reminds me of when everyone got upset alternate Mr. Sulu was gay, and it ended up being a non-issue.

The adult LGBTQI lobby pushing their indoctrination agenda at kids is nothing new.

They act as if kids can give informed consent in matters of sexuality.

  1. That’s the problem with this sort of thing. People see something that is sinful and think
“well it was brief so no harm”. Yeah right.
  2. Sinful agendas exist in the world, that much we know, however most of the time
they aren’t DIRECTLY marketed at children.
  3. I have a cousin who is LGBT. It started just like this when he was about 8 or 9 years old. His parents thought it was “cute” to say he had a boyfriend. Fast forward, he know has AIDS and has been arrested for degenerative drug use.

Are you claiming that everyone in the LGBT community is going to wind up with AIDS or with a drug habit?

That’s the kind of anti-gay rhetoric that just plays into the hands of those who would love to paint all Christians as gay-haters.

I saw the movie. The gay character is comic relief. There are hints throughout the movie that he has a crush on Gaston. He’s a joke as a character…hardly reflects positively on the gay community. He’s shown to be spineless and pathetic. His “gay crush” backfires on him… If I were a gay man I would be very offended by the portrayal. 🤷
Yes, as a Catholic I would prefer to not see homosexuality addressed in family movies period…but I think we have bigger fish to fry.

Whaaaatt? From all the fuss I expected something really in your face. This is it??

I find it hilarious that people are freaking out about this and not about the fact that the protagonist falls in love with an animal 😃

Your husband is awesome, of all the books I read I think it was one of the most influential and beneficial. And I’m a bookworm.
