And the time when there was a storm in the Sea of Galilee! They were about to be submerged! “Rabbi! Rabbi! We are perishing, and you are sleeping! Does what’s happening to us not happen to you?” And then he rose up, and ordered the winds and the sea to calm down. And lo and behold, they did right then!

And Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha of Bethany! He was dead three days before. Jesus ordered him to come out of the grave. And lo and behold, he did! After three days! They saw it all!!

And then, after his death on the Preparation Day during Passover, the first day of the following week his body was not in the tomb any more! Somebody may have stolen it! Even with the seals on the big stone? And the stone was heavy! The effort, and then to carry the body… would it not be too exhausting? Where could he be? Then he appears to them… alive! It’s Him! The wounds in His hands and the bigger hole on His side! Oh! God Almighty!!!

All this should probably have appeared in “The Idle Tale”, but Ben’s threads go in so many directions…oh well! 😉

Then the implications that Jesus is not a human person, but a divine person. Did He not say once: “Before Abraham was, I AM!” And the Jews around him were shocked, and they took stones to throw at Him. He escaped this fate more than once…

And if He is a divine person, He must have been in God “His Father” (as He used to call Him among them) from even before the beginning of the world, even of the whole universe!
This must have been present somehow in the Scriptures! Let us see…

In the beginning… That would be in Genesis, wouldn’t it? “The Spirit of the Lord God was there above the waters” “And God said…” He spoke the word, and… The Word! That’s it!
Since He obeyed completely to God’s Father , “doing this word” and “that word”…
In Hebrew, whenever it is said: “Why did you do this?” the Hebrew would say it this way: “Why did you do this word?” This is a Hebraism… So His words always faithful to His Father, and His deeds which in Hebrew are also “words”… Really, He is the Word, God’s Word, made flesh… hence the Logos!

simplynoone, please keep in mind that in Jesus’ time they were surrounded by Greek civilization, and that Many Jews then already were living outside Judea and Samaria, that the Diasporah Jews read not the Hebrew Bible, but the Septuagint (in Greek) Bible!
Also, the Jewish people was beginning to believe there would be an afterlife, and thus a resurrection from death. Why would Judas Macchabeus and his companions pray for the dead? Nothing indicates that they were using a forbidden pagan practice!
And some things already IMPLICITLY present in the Septuagint Bible (also in use outside Jerusalem, BTW) called for definition in view of what was being revealed to the world “starting with Jerusalem, then Judea, then Samaria, and to the ends of the earth”. New things had to be said. Of course the Apostles and the other disciples could read whole passages of the Bible and discovered new meanings relating to their experiences with this Jesus of Nazareth! It must be him! The Messiah expected by all-Israel!!
*Lapell… I am working with what I have before me. Deuteronomy 30:11-14 promises that I have all that I need within my reach to see the Truth. It is the blessing and the cursing. Amos 3:7 to believe what was declared by God through His prophets is truly a blessing for He continues to enlighten my mind (proverbs 2:1-7).
Jeremiah 17:5 is the curse that so many have rather taken hold of in that they believe something other than what was spoken by God through the testimonies of the prophets. Or they are leaning to their own understanding… “OH! It says resurrection… that means I will gain a god-like status to live eternally if I put my trust IN A MAN that died 2,000 years ago with no evidences whatsoever that he actually is still alive!” (BTW… when you put the resurrection spoken of in the Tanakh into the whole of the context, it is clear that it is not speaking of what the NT and the Church claims).

God declares His firstborn Son as Israel more than once and it is discarded to instead believe the church who says it was only Jesus, their demigod.
God commands that male and female procreate (this IS His way) and it is disregarded what He said to rather believe the lie that Jesus was born of a Virgin who was impregnated by the Holy Spirit.
God says He is not a man, that He alone is the Saviour, and that HIS NAME is LORD, and yet, most believe that Jesus, A MAN, is God, our Saviour, and that he is the Lord that every knee should bow to and every tongue should confess his lordship over creation.

The credit for EVERYTHING that is the Creation of God is going to a man!!

The curse has been grabbed a hold of (that so many believe and trust man over God) and the end result is that He will bring their fears upon them…

And it is quite ironic… Deuteronomy 32: 37 “And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted, 38 Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? let them rise up and help you, and be your protection.” Ironic, no? because in essence, the Church and its followers are worshiping THEIR own image! AGAIN… proverbs 2:1-7 * 🙂

*That’s fantastic! Thing is, I did not see it happen and have no reason for just taking the word of men to base my belief on. However, I once was blind, but now I see… and now I know that there is only ONE God and there is none other beside Him. He alone is my Saviour, my Creator, and His name is LORD. 😃

Isaiah 43:6-12*

I think the OP has been reading too much Dan Brown and not enough Matthew ,Mark Luke and John.

You seem to consider your time as a Christian Baptist a time when you were deceived, then? What made you Christianity to be a deception?

Actually, you are saying that Jesus is a human person, right? Well, if God is ever-powerful so as to create all Creation out of nothing, how could He not take the form of a man if He wills to?

Say, are you a Muslim? As for taking the word of men… well, you had to take into account the word of some people to come to conclusions you arrived at, hadn’t you?

You seem to consider your time as a Christian Baptist a time when you were deceived, then? What made you Christianity to be a deception?
*Not at all. My parents and those of the school/church that I attended DID believe they had the truth. To say they deceived me would imply evil intent on their part, and I know that is not truth… they had deceived their ownselves by not questioning and searching for the Truth to rather believe blindly in what THEY were told. However, whenever I would question ALL THE MANY things that did not make sense to me, I was told (not so much by my parents as the other adults at the time) I did not have enough faith. That was their answer to everything… that or “it’s the mystery of God.” It did not seem right to me.

That we, as students of the faith, were made to feel horribly wrong for questioning and at the same time expected to live up to standards that negated almost ALL meaningful experiences (meaning lessons were not allowed to be learned) seemed wrong. From the time before I even had awareness (which was actually VERY young in my case… I remember things from even before I was 2), I was already being guilted (though, it wasn’t seen this way) for being born. That seemed wrong. I don’t mean to say my parents ever directly said “you are a mistake” or anything… but just the message was already being put into my head through songs, story books, etc. That I was told that I was responsible for the death of someone I did not know and all because I came into the world was a really difficult for me. I am VERY empathetic and I found it hard to live life without guilt, shame, fear, etc because I was constantly trying to be careful not to sin and hurt Jesus and when I did mess up according to those around me (even questioning/doubting is considered messing up), I hurt him. It was really a lose/lose religion. Even if I did go to heaven because of a physical body, what good would that do? I still had my same mind… it wasn’t good enough for the Christians, how could God EVER accept me? I would always question and wonder. *
Actually, you are saying that Jesus is a human person, right? Well, if God is ever-powerful so as to create all Creation out of nothing, how could He not take the form of a man if He wills to?
*If Jesus was a Jewish man, then yes… he was born of a mother and a father and was not God. If he was a demigod as so many say he was, then he was not Jewish. That is not something that is supported by the Tanakh, but rather mythologies. *
Say, are you a Muslim? As for taking the word of men… well, you had to take into account the word of some people to come to conclusions you arrived at, hadn’t you?
*NO… I am not muslim. And no, I am not taking the word of men. Malachi 3 has in it that God will prove Himself… before I even knew that promise was there, the thought came to my mind in just that way… then I saw the promise, was astounded, and He really brought it forth when I obeyed. Since then, I have seen the evidences by His fulfilling many of the promises given in the Tanakh. It happened when I let go of the faith, experienced the fear of God, and then started seeking after Truth (though before that promise was brought to fruitation, I was seeking it outside of the Word… though looking back, it was very much guided). There was not anything that anyone could say to me to convince me something was Truth… He was the only One who could convince me… and I guess it was what He wanted from me for I have been blessed in many ways by His Word and understanding. *
**
What absolutely leaves me without doubt is that the promises are always brought forth and THEN I read them in His Word and it is written EXACTLY how it is brought forth. To others, that might not be enough; my testimony that is… and it shouldn’t… everyone should be crying out for the Truth and understanding as though your lives depended on it. Mine did!!! And I was brought to Life by His own “hand” and not of a man’s. Proverbs 2:1-7 🙂

You still trust the word of one man who claimed he received his message from God, did you know that?
…As for messages popping up in the mind, it also happens to me from time to time, so I am not a stranger to that experience. I also noticed that the words popping up I usually could say I had read them a while ago. Sometimes a short while ago, and also some other times a long while ago. Although the first time it happened at a later age from yours, I was in my twenties.

Now, you see what I meant about messages one may receive from God, do you? and how I could have asked that question?
Now, how did you come to reject the Gospel itself? Was it because of the guilt you felt you had to have just from the fact of being born? I suppose you would also reject the Psalm 51?

Or was it because of things some people told you where you may have felt some kind of deliverance from that deep impression of guilt? Or from something else?

You still trust the word of one man who claimed he received his message from God, did you know that?
No, I didn’t know that and in fact, you are mistaken if you believe it. I rejected it along with the NT because, true, both are written by man… That either both or one of the Testaments was Divinely inspired is something I finally rejected adamently until it was proved to me by God Himself that He Divinely inspired either/or. And He did prove it to me that the Tanakh is indeed Divinely inspired in, what is to me, a very miraculous and extremely sweet way.

It is purely how it is stated in Proverbs 2:1-7 <---- there IS a reason why I keep posting this passage. 😉 *

*The most profound for me was “consider”… over and over in my head every time I felt emotional over something… “consider this.” And I did… that is how I came to understand the Beauty in the Tanakh… God and His relationship with Israel, the People… and then I was astounded to come across Ezekiel 18:20-28 after having considered much. *
