Vatican City, Apr 17, 2009 / 10:53 am (CNA).- Wednesday, April 15 saw an unusual meeting take place as the Ambassador of Belgium to the Holy See delivered an official condemnation of the Pope’s remarks on the use of condoms to prevent AIDS in Africa from his country’s House of Representatives.

Ambassador Frank de Coninck was ordered by the Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs to lodge the official condemnation with Archbishop Dominique Mamberti, the Vatican’s Secretary for Relations with States.

In reaction to the move, the Vatican Secretariat of State said it “notes with regret this action, unusual in the context of the diplomatic relations existing between the Holy See and the Kingdom of Belgium.”

The Vatican also said it “deplores the fact that a Parliamentary Assembly should have thought it appropriate to criticize the Holy Father on the basis of an isolated extract from an interview, separated from its context, and used by some groups with a clear intent to intimidate, as if to dissuade the Pope from expressing himself on certain themes of obvious moral relevance and from teaching the Church’s doctrine.”

Here is a little background:

The Belgian parliament actually toned down their condemnation of the Pope’s stance. Originally it was to call his position “dangerous and irresponsible”, but the Prime Minister (who is Catholic) balked so the condemnation was changed to “unacceptable.”

Immediately after the decision by the parliament, the Catholic bishops of Belgium issued a statement lamenting the vote while supporting democracy.

couldn’t have put it better myself, as they say :clapping:

Belgium is the private fiefdom of socialists and Masons, the most so called ‘progressive’ country in Western Europe, so I am not surprised at this. If the West dies, Belgium goes first. And I won’t weep for it.

I am afraid we are starting to see the beginning of a world that is turning “socially and secularly progressive” which means that it rejects anything which teaches absolute truth. To these peoples way of thinking, truth is relative, which of course it is not. This is the result of Protestantism and the fruits of rejection of absolute truth are starting to be made evident world wide. Be prepared to see it more and more and to have to take a stance for your belief in the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. This is the target. With it minimized, the rest is easy.

I agree, Protestantism is too democratic to be a proper religion, and thus it has fragmented into thousands of sects.
