Belief in the Eucharist

So my wife was baptized and received her holy communion but she has come to a point where she doesn’t think she needs to go to mass to be saved. It really bothers me because I don’t want to argue. She goes to mass and doesn’t receive the Eucharist. She rather go to A church where she gets something out of it. She judges the church by bad homilies or bad readings …bad choices priest make … I remind her that it’s not about us. Any suggestions my followers of Christ to bring her come to realize that it’s through Gods church is where he calls us to be? Thanks for your time. Also she said she has been saved and she is putting God first but by not receiving the Eucharist is that not putting god first ?
 
Does she believe the Eucharist is not necessary or that it’s important
But doesn’t believe in transsubsiation

If this the first then show the verses that Jesus says do this I remeberance

And the didache that says it’s important

Honestly, it sounds like her catechesis has large holes in it.

This is a tough nut to crack. Honestly, if she has questions/objections I’d just talk it out and try to answer them (for example her ‘saved’ comment makes it sound like she ‘accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior’… something not Biblical or supported by tradition). You can’t make someone believe. If she just doesn’t want to be in the Church for whatever reason you’ll be chasing topics as she keeps moving the goalposts. If she does have real, specific issues then you can address them and just let the seed be planted.

If she has those you can address her specific claims. Her thoughts of ‘already being saved’ and 'putting God first (instead of the Eucharist) don’t jive with the Historical Church that Christ founded. You can show that. She likely wouldn’t take it at first but maybe over time.

I wonder what she means by saved. I mean if she were on a boat in the middle of the ocean, fell in & God reached down, grabbed her & put her back in the boat… yeah. She’s been saved.

But she’s still out in the middle of the ocean, right?
 
Does she not understand that Mass is not about her?
We go to Mass to praise and give glory to God through prayers and song.
We are not there to be entertained my the priest.
We get out of Mass, what we put into it.

I don’t know what advice to give. But I presume that she believes that she is saved by Jesus’ sacrifice of his own life on our behalf, by his one sacrifice on the cross.
She wasn’t there at the foot of the cross 2,000 years ago to be present at the events of her salvation. But that same one sacrifice is made present at every Mass. She can be present at the one sacrifice of Christ and add her own prayers and sacrifices to his to be offered to the Father. What a blessing it is!

My partner is the same. It’s a tough one.

I try to get her involved in special mass service , confined to healing & spiritual healing. That seems to chirp her up.
 
Could show her a commentary on John Chapter 6. Its about the Eucharist, many couldnt understand what Jesus was saying so many left him. Very eye opening chapter.

Also good to remind her what Jesus told Peter our first Pope of the Catholic church, that the gates of hell would not prevail against the church of Jesus. Thats in the book of Matthew somehwere. I dont have a bible on me atm. Hope it helped!
 
To not be board at Mass she should ask question, ie why are they on that road, why are they going to that city. If you are ready a novel you want to find out why someone does something. You either go back to see if you missed something or you keep reading to get more info. Do you guess go over the reading before mass and get some insight. The internet is full of Catholic scripture podcasts.
 
You could asked her to play what if. What if the Catholic church is true. Then she could find out where she needs clarification.

Pray for her. This is showing a great moral code as in not receiving because she has doubt. As Catholics we are only required to receive once a year, but are required to attend Mass weekly.
As her husband you can also bless her daily, bless all food eaten, and all activities. Ask for the help of the Lord.
Husbands have great spiritual authority over their families and are a powerful spiritual weapon. Get you home blessed too.
Also pray to Our Lady of Sorrows to reveal where any conflicts may lie in her doubts.
