For all intents and purposes, it is “physically” the body and blood of Christ.
I am afraid this isn’t really the way to put it. I do not think you will find any authoritative teaching that says it is physically the body of Jesus. I think you mean “substantially” the body of Jesus…an ancient word with a highly specialised meaning.

Thanks
That does describe the NEW model for living a chastity lifestyle.
No discomfort or minimum effort.

Thanks 4 the photo.
Yes removing the mystism of the mass and making it more common has removed its spiritual effect on many people.

It has a loss of meaning.

Lack of catechesis regarding the True Presence; lack of emphasis on adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Tilting too far toward ecumenism.

In regard to the comparison of the two pictures; it may infact be the only thing in this thread that shows ‘why’ things have changed. But not for the reason stated.

It’s precisely because you look down on those whose situation resembles the lower, that your faith is now so weak.

For many, your belief has become that of the material and the judgemental. No longer toward god but towards the appearance of a Roman attitude now irrelevant to modern times.

The person who stated the jeep example above is accurate enough. Faith isn’t shiny goblets and faux reverence. It’s inside the people.

From the king to the pauper. There is no difference.

To claim that you must kneel, for appreciation of context is all well and good - until the man comes who cannot kneel at all because he is disabled and surrounded by the eyes that observe that reality.

Either something ‘is’ or it is not. Dressing something up to appear legitimate has all the makings of a well crafted deception.

People of faith, quoted poems to be Lord in the mud and horror of the somme.

Your cute locales are meaningless in the face of reality. And truth and reality is what people crave.

Would you have us believe that your second picture is representative of how the Eucharist is celebrated in 99% of churches today?
No but I still understand his point. It’s not as poor as the 2nd picture (and we don’t know circumstances), but it’s not as revere as the 1st either.

God Bless You

Thank you for reading.

I absolutely believe in the Real Presence and live my life worthy to recieve it. Im a convert to the Church. Most everything i know has come from self study and youtube videos of traditional Catholic Priests and Parishes. I especially love the Mass on ewtn.

I live in an extremely liberal archdiocese and diocese. I find that the rubrics for the laity in the pews arent followed at all.

I try to emulate the rubrics in the pew but also the reverence i see in more traditional videos.

When standing i hold my hands in a clasp in front of me by my ribs. When we pray i put my hands together in traditional Catholic prayer. I bow my head at the names of Jesus and Mary and bow at the mention of God incrnate in the Nicene Creed when no one else really does. I pray for intercession at the picture of Our Lady…i find not many do before or after Mass. I try to ignore all the noise before Mass as well…and theres even more noise in the Sanctuary when Mass is over and pray anyways.

When i recieve the Holy Eucharist i stand and recieve on the tongue.

What i keep feeling in my heart is that i should veil/kneel for the Agneus Dei and kneel to recieve the Eucharist on the tongue. Also i dont want to hold hands during the Our Father…and i dont like breaking focus after the Consecration to do the Sign of Peace with ppl. I would like to make the Sign of the Cross before and after we pray during parts of the Mass…but not even the Priest does that.

Im self conscious to do these things because im already stared at for doing what i do…which i just consider to be basic reverence. Im one of probaly 4 ppl who recieve on the tongue. I always try to be in the line for the Priest but often have to turn away to EM for the flow of the line. Just a feeling of being rushed. I kneel at the pew until the Hosts are put back in the Tabernacle which is on the side kind of far way with a barrier.

It is a little disheartening because mostly ppl look bored to death and theres a complete lack of uniformity in everyones rubrics and posture.

One of the Priests has been having the deacon sit in the pews with the laity while he gives his homily.

The level of reverence greatly depends on who is giving the Mass…and i found it to be in even the most traditional like parish i could find here.

I often stand there and wonder if many truly believe in the Real Presence.

I wonder what the response would be if i did what i wanted which is what i mentioned. If the Priest would be mad?

I also find Confession to be very dependant upon the Priest regarding if he even asks me to an Act of Contrition before Absolution. Sometimes its just a general Act of Contrition before we even confess.

I believe taking away traditional rubrics has led to ppl not believing in the Real Presence. Especially not kneeling for the Agneus Dei…the protestant constantly different instruments and style of worship music…the heavy use of Eucharistic Ministers…

Theres just no uniformity.

I pray one day i can live in an area or close to one to attend an FSSP parish.

Just my thoughts.

God bless♡

How sad to lose the Communion rail and everything u went thru. Why do they do that?!

Jimmy Akin explains how the statistics at the heart of this post are totally false…and since he is a CAF apologist, his material is endorsed by the Forum as being acurrate…in distinction to opinion, according to the disclaimer at the bottom of the Forum’s webpeages. This saves me from further typing since his answer must be accepted as an authentic expression of Catholic Answer’s position.

It is critical to state that this “poll information,” which is being cited, regularly and all too frequently appears of the propaganda sites of the radical “traditionalists” who are restorationists for the vetus ordo and for the mien and deportment of people of generations, now past and dead.

This sort of methodology deserves to be utterly rejected as completely worthless.

As for the statement alleged to come from Mother Teresa of Calcutta, this has been rejected by the Congregation she founded; it also false and enjoys no credence in the circles that knew Mother across the many many years.

It is sad that these restorationists try to so grossly distort the reality of our post-conciliar Church – and sadder than there are those who are taken in by them.

when we receive the Eucharist, we are eating Jesus’ left foot along with the rest of Him.
I know a young lady who is a Catholic or was,I am not sure, and she is a vegan. She says that she will not eat any kind of meat or animal product and therefore has stopped receiving Holy Communion, since her belief is similar to yours. Is she right to have the same belief as you and to therefore abstain from Holy Communion as she abstains from all meat or animal products.

Absolutely not for several reasons

Catholic Holy Communion is God Himself and therefore the greatest source of grace available to humanity

Grace is needed to attain heaven [and to keep the Faith]

The RCC demands that every Catholic receive Holy Communion at least once per year: This is termed The Easter Duty"

God Bless you,
Patrick

I’m thinking this was a mass celebrated in a Newman Center at a public university all purpose room.
Yeah, Newman Centers still kind of look like that for the most part, though they seem to be getting away from pink butterflies and putting up a few crosses with actual realistic corpuses on them.

Do you not think that the manner in which we practice affects how we believe? If we treated the Eucharist like we believe it is God then that will lead to a stronger belief.

I’m not a restorationist obviously and like I said earlier this is not my favorite Fr. Heilman post, but in his defense he has got large numbers of people online praying the Rosary, trying to get plenary indulgences, saying the Holy Face chaplet etc like nobody’s business. His latest novena is 54-day rosary for Pope Francis, presented with no criticism of Pope Francis, just prayers. It’s such a joy to tune into Facebook and find a large Rosary group. I was already doing works for plenary indulgences, but Father added the idea of asking a particular saint to pray along with you. Also you do not need to be some rad trad to join his prayer group which contrasts with a lot of the groups that don’t want people like me who are not regular TLM attendees and do not live, dress, etc in a “conservative” way. So to the extent he distorts a statistic here and there, I set it aside. Just felt a need to stand up for the guy, I love his prayer group activities and they really have helped my spiritual life.

Are you saying that this:

or this

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

Is inherently better than this?

or this?

“Rubrics” are the rules for the priests and other who are conducting the mass or other liturgy- not the faithful or others who are attending. There are no “rubrics for the laity”.
