i’d like to know why other beliefs aside from jw’s don’t celebrate Christmas?
i take it your a muslim? please elaborate on what you mean? iam inviting all faiths that do not celebrate Christmas to express why they do not celebrate. so can you please elaborate on why you specifically do not celebrate it, other than your statement that is “pagan”?bec chrismass is a pagan celebration![]()
This is one reason given. Another is that the celebration of Christmas is not mentioned in the Bible. It’s kind of hard to ignore the fact that the Nativity of Our Lord is covered extensively in the New Testament – but that’s an argument I have heard.bec chrismass is a pagan celebration![]()
I see. Can you please show us the quote then from the Qu’ran where it forbids it?as a muslim ,in islam any celebration must be ordered by allah
if its not ordered by allah then its forbidden to celebrate it .![]()
“Or have they partners with Allaah (false gods) who have instituted for them a religion which Allaah has not allowed…?” [al-Shoora 42:21]I see. Can you please show us the quote then from the Qu’ran where it forbids it?
aside from your post, iam still inviting non Catholic beliefs of people who have not celebrated Christmas and i want to ask them why they do not celebrate it. again, I want to ask them why they do not celebrate Christmas and let them explain in their own words why they do not celebrate it.Christmas is not pagan. Candlemas is pagan. They both fall on the same day. When Christians merged with the pagan people, they made Candlemas(a much older celebration) into Christmas.
Christmas is Christians and Candlemas is pagan because of the intent. Christians intend to celebrate the birth of Jesus while pagans intend to give thanks to the God and Goddess and all nature etc.
Other beliefs do not celebrate Christmas because of one simple reason that we must accept: They don’t share the same beliefs as you. Tough. Get over it and focus on living in peace with everyone and you’ll be much happier and alot less stressed.![]()
Consider my knuckles rapped. I apologize for invading the thread.aside from your post, iam still inviting non Catholic beliefs of people who have not celebrated Christmas and i want to ask them why they do not celebrate it. again, I want to ask them why they do not celebrate Christmas and let them explain in their own words why they do not celebrate it.
thank you for the quote. i appreciate it.“Or have they partners with Allaah (false gods) who have instituted for them a religion which Allaah has not allowed…?” [al-Shoora 42:21]
“Then We have put you (O Muhammad) on a plain way of (Our) commandment. So follow that, and follow not the desires of those who know not. Verily, they can avail you nothing against Allaah (if He wants to puish you). Verily, the zaalimoon (wrongdoers) are awliyaa’ (protectors, helpers, etc.) to one another, but Allaah is the Wali (Protector, Helper) of the muttaqoon (pious).” [al-Jaathiyah 45:18-19]
“Follow what has been sent down unto you from your Lord, and follow not any awliyaa’ (protectors, helpers, etc.) besides Him. Little do you remember!” [al-A’raaf 7:3]
According to saheeh reports, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever does something that is a not part of this matter of ours (i.e., Islam) will have it rejected” (reported by Muslim in his Saheeh)
My last words weren’t nessesarily directed to you. It’s just that sometimes people invite other’s to share their beliefs, then question, reject, or try to convert the person.aside from your post, iam still inviting non Catholic beliefs of people who have not celebrated Christmas and i want to ask them why they do not celebrate it. again, I want to ask them why they do not celebrate Christmas and let them explain in their own words why they do not celebrate it.
this post is not about conversion at all. it is to ask others who do not celebrate Christmas why don’t you celebrate it? iam asking them from my own personal standpoint, why. its all iam asking. it has nothing to with converting others, or having others convert us. its a plain and simple question. i asked it respectfully. My last words weren’t nessesarily directed to you. The only thing that Christians copied was the day. That is a fact. But Christmas is not a pagan celebration because of intent. See my post above on this, Belfarfalla. Not true.
glad that’s cleared up.
hmm, that’s news to me! i didn’t know that! There are Christians who do not celebrate Christmas. I knew Dutch Reformed who did not celebrate Christ’s (or anyone else’s) birthdays.
I do not recall why this is…if I was ever told. If memory serves, it was not all Dutch Reformed, but a particular strain of them.
Although my Dutch Reformed forbears celebrated Christmas as far back as the 1910s, I believe this is an innovation that could have arisen in the previous century or even as late as the early 20th Century. I do not remember any of my DR forbears EVER attending church on Christmas – not even the ones who actually went to church on Sunday. But my family were not “pillars” so this may be only a personal experience. Remember: the Dutch gave us Santa Clause – and that wasn’t just the Catholics. There are Christians who do not celebrate Christmas.
