I agree with Pope Benedict’s analysis. However the article did not offer proof that the two Pope’s are far apart, or that Vatican officials are unhappy with it.

Avoid getting into mind reading. Is LSN really that concerned about the affect of officials in the Vatican?

I would say that the catholic workers of lifestite incur some guilt for continuously sowing discord and division in the Church

Could it be that the unhappy people are the same clericalists that Pope Francis is condemning?

Is it possible that the two popes, one in the report from the summit, and the other in his recent letter, are pointing at something that could be described as the “deep state” in the church hierarchy?
In that context, I was struck by the arrogance of the German bishops who refused to shake the hand of Benedict as he made his way past them. (saw this in a recent video here)

The video has been debunked, on the thread where it was posted.

I flagged the post referring to a cardinal of our Church with an insulting term.

I do not agree with the liberal public policies of this cardinal, and wish another man like Cardinal George had been chosen.

However, this is no reason to use a personal pejorative term when likely neither of us really knows him personally.

I think that Pope Emeritus’s observations complement what Pope Francis is trying to do.

For one thing he gives perspective. These problems did not arise from a vacuum.

I have no idea how that answered my question. Perspective? Everyone gives perspective. I asked exactly what is Pope Francis trying to do that you think Benedict is complimenting? Exact examples.

The word was complement, not compliment. It means that he is offering a perspective that could give light on how we came to be in the situation that we are in. Understanding this could give us a path to the way out.

I have fat fingers, a small phone, and autocorrect. There will be errors. Rest assured I know the correct word.

But again, can you articulate the exact thing Pope Francis is trying to do?

I have to say I am really tired of LSN and other agenda oriented Catholic media working 24/7 to create more division in the (mainly American) Church than there already is.

Pope Francis is trying to address the issue that has really become a problem on a global scale, not just in the United States. He has the benefit of Pope Emeritus who has his own perspective of what the problem is. I think that Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI’s observations complement the efforts of Pope Francis. It appears that today not everybody understands Benedict but I believe that in the future they will.

The Catholics working for these organizations incur some spiritual guilt I believe.
