The retired pope has given a rare endorsement of a serving Church official
We should be grateful to Pope Francis for appointing Cardinal Robert Sarah to guard the Church’s liturgy, Benedict XVI has said.
In an afterword to Cardinal Sarah’s new book The Power of Silence: Against the Dictatorship of Noise, the retired pope gives a rare endorsement of a serving Church official, saying the liturgy is in “good hands” with the cardinal as prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.

Going by what we’ve recently read about Cardinal Sarah, it’d be pretty hard to disagree. 🙂
He’s from the same mould as (now retired) Cardinal Arinze.

Ok, I have to say it: I wonder how long until people start to say that the Pope Emeritus is hinting that the Pope’s other decisions are bad. 😊 :hmmm:

Wonderful to see Pope Benedict praising this Prefect chosen by Pope Francis. Love is all around!

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Pope Emeritus Benedict is simply expressing his feelings. I am sure many of us have the same feelings. Most Catholics are willing to see what is good outside of sectarian divisions.

Not sure why they’d make that jump. The Catholic liturgy hasn’t been changed at all under Pope Francis’ reign has it? In fact the most recent changes to the Catholic liturgy if I’m not mistaken were last undertaken during Pope Benedict’s reign no?

Only the English translation, among others.

Hi Padres. You quoted me so let me say, I’ve already heard people suggest that some of the Pope’s other decisions are bad, e.g. Other appointment decisions. (Keep in mind that the Pope makes quite a lot of decisions, not just liturgy-related decisions.) Frankly, knowing how the Internet is, I won’t be entirely shocked if someone has said or will say that the Pope Emeritus thinks that the Pope’s other decisions are bad.
