Nearly three-quarters of Americans, 73 percent, who say they’re familiar enough with Pope Benedict XVI to offer an opinion have a favorable view of the pontiff, according to a new poll. Benedict scored well not just among Catholics, but also white Evangelicals, black Protestants, and mainline Protestants.
The survey, conducted by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life and released today, offers the pope good news ahead of a projected 2008 visit to the United States.

I might be wrong. But only American citizens tend to rate people with their approval or not. It is nice that the majority approve. I just wish that that same percentage did as he instructed.🤷
 
While this is gratifying, it would make no difference if it were 0%. But I suppose at least he is not driving most people away.
 
One must be careful about polls, and even about votes, with regard to the Church.

Years ago, a newspaper story quoted a rather frustrated Parish Priest (he was dealing with his parish council) as observing that, had the last supper been a committee meeting, and the crucifixion been up for a vote, it would have been defeated 12 to 1.

Our Lord, by all appearences, was VERY popular when he entered Jerusalem. But look what happened before the end of the week. And Pope Benedict is his vicar.

Pretty cool that most people approve. Now if only that same percentage would follow the rules like they’re supposed to.
 
Interesting considering thats almost 3 times the approval rating for President Bush and he was elected by Americans whereas the Pope was not.
