So I recently switched to receiving the blessed sacrament on the tongue and it’s been beneficial for me. When I go for communion I simply receive the sacrament and I don’t have to worry about holding it in my hand and transferring it to my mouth, it’s less stressful and keeps me in a more prayerful frame of mind.

It feels like I’m one of a handful of people at my parish who receive on the tongue. The deacons, Eucharistic ministers and almost all the parish take in the hand. What gets me in people holding children and people in crutches receiving in the hand and making these very awkward transitions to get the host into their mouths when they could just open their mouths!

Anyone else benefit from this practice?

I receive on the tongue barbecue that’s how I was taught.
There is nothing wrong with those don’t chose to receive on the tongue.

I’m starting to feel like I’m really missing out.

Oh that typo did make chuckle!!! 🤣

I received on the tongue these past two Saturdays. I gave it long thought, as it is more common to receive in the hand at my parish, but Father C made it very clear to do as our conscience led, so I stand and receive on the tongue. I get very jittery when emotional and nervous and was terrified of dropping the Host. It has been a lot easier than I feared it might be, and obviously, the most important thing is that I am united with my Lord! 🙂

Personally, I think receiving on the tongue is quicker and convenient.

At my parish we receive on the tongue only, so when I went to a different one I got got a bit confused when they handed the Sacred Host to me.

No one is saying this is an either/or. There is no need for a reaction like this. I receive on the tongue because I feel the benefit from it. I have total respect for those who receive in the hand.

It’s just an interesting thing, isn’t it? Why can’t a conversation between friends be…
“I do this like this because it does this.”
“Oh, right, that’s interesting. I do it differently because of this reason here.”
“Cool. I love that we can both follow our conscience and not make each other feel less for doing it another way.”
“Yay. Let’s break out the barbecue and have dips and stuff.” 😉

What is the issue? You came across as the hypersensitive one. I have no issue regarding those who receive in the hand and those who receive on the tongue. Both are valid and both deliver the Body of Christ.

The Church has given us the option of which way to receive. The choice an individual makes in receiving is just that, their personal choice. None of has to be justified to anyone.

I did a poll about receiving the Eucharist- tongue - hand -
69 people voted -
50 % said tongue.

How can you get 50% with an uneven number?
🤔

No…i said there is. no difference…i receive on the tongue…so do you…it makes no difference to God, so why do you feel threatened if the church has another authorized means? I don’t.

Why do you see the choice, both ehich you acknowlege are approved by the Church as threatening your choice?

Or how could you construe my comments to mean habd is better than tongue?

I just dont get it.

I receive on the tongue, but mostly because I have only partial use of my hands and can’t make the cupping motion, and I’m terrified of dropping it. But every time I receive, I’m afraid I’ll accidentally bite the priest.

Um…I was the one saying both are valid and personal choices. You, however, had to shout
No more benefit than receiving in the hand…> PERIOD!
I am perfectly comfortable with anyone’s choice, not threatened at all!
