I lived in the area for a few years in the mid 60’s. I met many descent people that tended to stay in the background and never say anything about the more vocal population (I’m being PC). My opinion of the majority is that they are silent and stay that way because they do not want to “make waves” or become targets of the vocal population.

I think the term “silent majority” is very apt for those that live in the Bay area.
👍 Either that, or they move because they get tired of bucking the vocal minority.

I find that to be true in general. In most groups I’ve been in, whether in school, socially or at work, 75% of the people tend to be quiet while 25% do most of the talking. It’s sometimes frustrating because there are always some folks in the silent majority that you know have great ideas, but just won’t say them.

If Berkeley is so liberal than why was a recruiting office successful there? I am fairly certain if there was no business there, the government would have closed it long before. Maybe the Berkeley city council should be made aware how many recruits actually are serving from this area, and have them voice why this office is necessary for the people who live in Berkeley. Makes no sense to me at all.
Marines do not equal war. It is the protection of our nation. They serve in peace as well as in war. More reasons to pray.

I doubt the city council objects to the presence of the Marines based on lack of recruiting success. It objects because of the discriminatory policy of the Marines toward gays.

The office is not necessary for the people who live in Berkeley - it is helpful for the Marines, and the owner of the property where the office is being rented, and for those locals who wish to join the Marines. The city council does not place high value on these parties, and so its position is a consistent one. It is the council’s chest-thumping ordinance that is laughable… I suspect the Marines at the recruiting station are amused as well.

BRILLIANT !!!
I’m sure it’s “just me” that will ask, but I do so hope you said “brilliant” in a “Boston Legal” sort of way 😃

Yeah, I know they’re kinda “left handed” but they’re still funny as all get out. 🙂

(Still trying to figure out “best show on TV”. Some say “Boston Legal”, others say “Battlestar Gallactica”, so I am forced to watch both. We all have our crosses…

“Brilliant” is my DW’s new word. So, I said it like she does. Now that should clear it all up huh? 😛 It’s sort of like the Guinness cartoon guys commerical way.
