For a Catholic there does not seem to be a moral way to deal with frozen embryos. They can’t be adopted
I believe the jury is still out on this one. Is It OK to Adopt an Embryo? | Catholic Answers
Quick, elf. Back into the flames!

  • The embryos will need to be frozen again quickly to actually be saved.
  • For a Catholic there does not seem to be a moral way to deal with frozen embryos. They can’t be adopted or deliberately killed. Sad as it is letting them die in a fire like that may be the best solution.
Usually these exercises use magic to make it even possibly to save the embryos. So I figured it would at least consistently play out,
No, you just grab one or the other. Just pick them up and get out of there to safety. Oh, and to thehe mother. Who was outside shouting something. And it wasn’t: ‘My embryos! Won’t someone save my embryos!’

Did someone already ask you which you would save from the flames between a pregnant woman and non-pregnant woman? Between your mom and a woman you’ve never met? These exercises are asinine and prove nothing.

Who said they proved anything? As I said, it’s just a quick heads up on someone’s value system is all. You make the chois and it tells everyone something about how you value the two choices.

And me, I’m saving the pregnant woman. I think most would. And I’d be surprised if we chose to save someone we didn’t know versus someone we loved greatly.

There you go. You know a little bit more about how I feel about pregnant women and my mum.

If the embryos isn’t in the women than it is at a clinic in which case she probably wouldn’t know until it is over.
No, she knew her frozen embryos were in there together with her daughter. And you came running out of the burning building with…a flask containing two embryos.

I reckon you’d be first in on the six o’clock news. And not in a good way either.

Nobody will remember and maybe if I don’t identify myself they won’t know who I am. There will be people who will defend me.

You did. You just said it proves someone’s value system. I don’t think it even proves that. A true last-minute decision under life-or-death circumstances doesn’t usually allow the rational forethought that a forum conversation might.

The chances of anyone being in such an absurd scenario are next to nil in the days of 911. And for what it’s worth, apparently emergency workers consider embryos worth rescuing. Rescued Katrina Embryo Baby Is Born - CBS News

Why are you worried about not saving saving the child? Why would you need defending? Don’t you think you did the right thing? I would have thought you’d think you were a hero. Two For One!

You could get T shirts printed.

Ah, so you don’t understand hypotheticals then.
Actually, I understand better than you realize. That is why I chose something other than the two scenarios you tried to push upon the reader.
No, a hypothetical only allows the options given. If you ask someone what they’d do in the Trolley Problem, the answer: ‘I’d make sure the brakes didn’t fail in the first place’ is kinda missing the point.

It would be like suggesting that in these days with 911, the scenario wouldn’t happen anyway.

But thanks anyway. We know a little bit more about you in any case.

No, I didn’t say it proves someone’s value system, now did I…

And a quick decision may well be reversed if one thought about it long enough. No argument from me on that. We alk think fast and slow.

So now you’ve had some time. So which would you save? Assuming 911 didn’t help.

Wouldn’t you need factual proof of your “quick heads-up” for it to be valid?

At any rate, the premise of the game is rigged, flawed, and intellectually dishonest. So I’m not playing. 😇

I’d love to stay and chat, but I need to load my little clumps-of-cells into the car and head to Mass . . .

Fortunately, they have a cry room for fussier cell clumps.

I am Pro-life but always find these discussions disturbing and many Pro-life statements generally in their complete ignoring of the mother. A baby is not becoming a human at any stage without a mother. Without talking about the woman you talk of babies and embryos as if they are in stasis. A baby always has a mother, you cannot have one without the other. I would like to hear every time abortion is discussed just as much love and concern directed at the mother as the baby, otherwise it is completely alienating.

OK, as we’re heading down tbis track…how about ‘a mature brain’. If a human has a mature brain, being a brain with recognised synaptic activity, then that human is a person. Conscious or not.
To return to the discussion here, I was actually convinced for two and a half hours that you found a good definition. Then I thought of this argument. First question: Do you accept that non physical beings can exist?

Right. A work of fiction specifically set up to attempt to force a decision that would otherwise never actually appear in life.

Well, I made my own fiction as well.
Perhaps I would not die attempting to save all. It is fiction, I could use my superpowers to remove the danger altogether.

The game is designed with an agenda, so I will not play.

That would be a no.

You are the one bringing up detractors. Anyways I’m not going to be deterred by fake people and bad arguments.
