Conformity to the Will of God. St. Alphonsus Ligouri
From the many hundreds there are to choose from, I like Revelations of Divine Love by Julian of Norwich. She has not been sainted but her words are a continual source of comfort and inspiration. What are the BEST Catholic books out there?
Another poster suggested The Screwtape Letters. An excellent book but Lewis never became Catholic (though I bet he is now).I like Plain and Parochial Sermons by John Henry Newman. They were written while he was still an Anglican Priest, but they are entirely Catholic in content. Excellent spirituality.
Definitely the top of my list! From the many hundreds there are to choose from, I like Revelations of Divine Love by Julian of Norwich.
I do agree with this. But I try to take the idea of spiritual reading for Lent a little more literal. OTOH, the book you mentioned certainly does make one think about what is wrong in our world, by taking it to its logical conclusion. And it is an apocalyptic novel, which certainly had a long tradition of reminding us of our ultimate end.right
