This from Mark Knopfler that I’ve just been listening to is a lovely sound.

J. Mascis belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It’s a travesty he has never been nominated.I really like the band Dinosaur Jr., and whilst J. Mascis is not everyone’s cup of tea, some of his solos are just straight up awesome. (Amazing how people think guitar solos decreased with the rise of Alternative Rock, that’s simply not true)
Sounds best with the amp turned up to 11!
Go on Youtube and search “Tina S”
This young lady from France is absolutely amazing!
You will not be disappointed

I used to be a big fan of Dire Straits but hadn’t listened to them for some time, and when I listened to that earlier I was quite moved by it.
I’m sorry, that bit where he breaks off to minutely change the tuning of one of the strings on the violin is priceless. Literally LOL.

You’ve reminded me of how good Layla was, and why it’s become a classic.
I really liked that!
It reminded me of the fantastic guitars on Layla, by Derek and The Dominos.
Which opens up a whole range of guitar from the sixties - Clapton, Harrison, The Allman Brothers, Hendrix…
I always loved the solo guitar accompaniment on Bang Bang, by Nancy Sinatra. This was recorded in one take, with the guitar improvised.![]()
Yep…I guess this post is really asking for best guitar solos…maybe some of Santana…Tommy Emmanuel for all round best guitarist would be way above those mentioned here…I played that, and it started off a YouTube show of Tommy Emmanuel songs.
Lots of fun!![]()
