FYI-Coach Carter, though an inspiring movie did have some aspects of it that I wish were not included such as the sexual references, and the abortion. I felt that sent a bad message to teens. That is a shame, too because the movie was all about teen achievement in the face of adversity.

We are renters, not movie goers, and limited on movie watching time, so my list may be a little outdated.

Coach Carter

National Treasure

and though I really hate to say it: Diary of a Mad Black Woman. Someone reccommened this to me and I had no idea what it was about. Though there is some irreverance in it, and some returning of meanness with meanness, which I did not like, there is much reference to Christianity and the performances were great. It was also very funny in many spots.
Diary of a Mad Black Woman. good movie. Tyler Perry lives in the Atlanta area and does some excellent plays. 👍

I am sure you know the final part of the trilogy is suppose to come out as well “The Last Full Measure” unortunately due to the unsuccessful run of Gods and Generals they might not do it. I think it would be a shame if they dont finish the triology while the actors still look the same and are in good enough health to finish the movies.
I heard something about a trilogy, but forgot about it.I hope the director’s is released! I enjoyed Patriot, I guess I’m just a stickler for historical fiction to be as accurate as possible. I have been a Mel Gibson fan since “Man Without a Face” so can find things to enjoy with just about any of his movies. I liked the human relationships and family dynamics in Patriot, and just seeing the costumes from a period film is always enjoyable. Come to think of it, I watched Patriot with my dad too. :hmmm: I guess for us it’s like watching football for a father and son. We bond through American history. My dad is a huge Lewis and Clark fan. He wants to be a French Fur trader in a reenactment, LOL.

Ahhhh Français Fur trader

I watched one of my favorites the other night, Random Harvest with Greer Garson and Ronald Coleman. I was just thinking today that it deals with some of the same issues as Return to Me and The Notebook.

If you like old romance movies, you must see this one. The longing in Greer Garson’s face will just bring you to tears! I went to bed after watching it and cried for another 30 minutes.

*March of the Penguins * was great. My whole family went to see if together, and my little brother wants to go back next week for his sixth birthday.

*Hitch * was indeed hilarious. It was fun to see a romantic comedy from the man’s point of view.

A FANTASTIC movie I saw on video recently was Where the Heart Is, starring Natalie Portman and Ashley Judd. It’s the story of a pregnant teenager who lives in a southern town’s Wal-Mart after her boyfriend ditches her, and then how her life develops over the next five years. It’s better suited to older teenagers or adults, but it has a great story about real, selfless love, the value of friendship, and making it through tough times in life. I found it one of the most enjoyable and uplifting movies I have seen in a long time. Plus it has a great pro-life undertone - unwed mothers in the movie NEVER consider getting rid of their children, even if they didn’t want to get pregnant in the first place. Their children bring lots of meaning to their lives.
