Although I loved Finding Nemo’s positive portrayal of Fatherhood (like everyone says, all to rare these days) I have to go with The Incredibles, partially because I love supper heroes so much, but mostly because it is so pro-family. There also is a little bit that seems to be pro-life (“Valuing life is not weakness”).

I disagree with Greydanus on The Incredibles.

For all the explicit pro-family content in the film, I think is was offset by other troubling issues. I thought there were way too many adult themes portrayed too realistically.

However, I thought Bird’s portrayal of Edna Mode was brilliant. I think she should have won an Oscar for best new animated character.

My vote: Finding Nemo

FINDING NEMO!

But I LOVE Monsters, Inc.

Is Ice Age a Pixar movie? (I don’t remember, but it’s another favorite).

There are so many good one-liners in “Finding Nemo”…I LOVE Dori

“Hey! I’ve seen a boat! It went…it went THIS WAY! FOLLOW ME!”

“Hi…I’m Dori” sticks fin out

Who DOESN’T remember the vocal inflection in these lines? In every line of the movie?

“You THINK you can DO these things, but you JUST CAN’T NEMO!”

“I HATE you Dad”

“the RING…OF…FIRE! (ringoffireringoffire!)”

Emly:
What adult themes might you be referring too? Death? Sorry…
Oh, just off the top of my head:
1 - Why did Jak-Jak need a demon persona?
2 - Why did torture have to be shown so graphically?
3 - Why did Bob have to strangle Mirage?
4 - If Mirage was truly as pro-life as her one sentence, why was she with Syndrome?
5 - There’s nothing heroic about Bob in his role at home.
6 - Even Bob admits his home life is unamazing.
7 - Bob’s loss of external “super”-star status is what grinds on him.
8 - Bob has problems controlling his temper
9 - Bob is reborn by following various outside temptations.

Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if a script doctor was brought in at the last minute to make Bird’s original (and darker) screenplay more family friendly. That would explain why many of the pro-family/pro-life lines stick out oddly. And why those lines could be dropped without affecting the story line one bit.

========================

Now compare that to Nemo, which from beginning to end is a tale of a true father on an heroic quest and the parallel coming-of-age story of his son.

To be honest, I haven’t seen ANY of these!
Was Robotz a Pixar film?

So I guess with this poll, that will determine which film I will see first!
I still can’t believe I hadn’t seen the original Toy Story.
