thank you. brain deterioration has accelerated on this lo-carb diet, I am convinced that is the reason.
the movie where Holly Hunter goes back to her family home for Thanksgiving and the turkey lands on the lap of of her know-it-all perfect sister.

the scene in Little Women where Winona Ryder is at the opera with Prof. Bhaer and their budding romance is evident but not explicit. muy romantico

the scene in Into the West (also with Gabriel Byrne, a favorite of mine) where the two little boys take the horse into the apartment and break through to the neighbors, out the door and flee from the police. also the scene where the horse goes back into the sea.

My favorite scene in the Passion of the Christ was the table 🙂
As well as the scene where God’s tear drop came down and
also the risen Christ from the tomb 🙂

Speed: “Shoot the hostage”/“I can’t believe they’re giving you a medal for shooting me”
And especially: When Jack & Annie escape the explosive bus and skid across the tarmac locked in embrace.

Con-Air: [The plane takes off, towing a sports car behind it] “On any other day, that would seem strange.”

And since no one has mentioned it yet:
The Princess Bride: “As you wish.”

“standard disclaimers apply”,

My favorite scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is
when Indiana saw his father 😃

ET where the kids are fleeing the feds on their bikes and rise up in the air by ET’s superior powers. I always felt this movie has a Christological dimension, whether Speilberg intended it or not. still one of my favorites.

Close Encounters where the computer is playing the music tone and the mother ship answers with the bass notes and blows out the electronics, the whole last scene with the spaceships dancing and landing is great. love the look on Richard Dreyfuss’ face when he takes the hands of the aliens and is led on board their ship.

car chases in French Connection and Bullitt.

the Sting where Paul Newman is running the carousel, metaphor for the entire plot and setting.

i will always love the scene where Dorothy leaves her black and white world into the color of Oz.

Jaws when Roy Schneider is throwing the chum of the back of the boat and the shark pops up for just a second.

Star Trek III: the scene where the crew is watching the destroyed Enterprise crash down on Genesis and Kirk says “My god Bones, what have I done?”

In fact in each of the movies where the different Enterprise’s are destroyed, is a solemn moment. 😦

Agreed. But that one is still the toughest to swallow, being the original.

Who watches too many movies, so will give it a rest now
(No, not “a rest” from watching movies. “A rest” from posting favorite scenes)
“Garcon, coffee!”
“Garcon means boy.”

Mia: “Don’t you hate that?”
Vincent: “Hate what?”
Mia: “Uncomfortable silences. Why do we feel it’s necessary to yak about stuff in order to be comfortable?”
Vincent: “I don’t know. That’s a good question.”
Mia: “That’s when you know you’ve found someone special. When you can just shut up for a minute and comfortably enjoy the silence.”

Vincent: Want some bacon?
Jules: No man, I don’t eat pork.
Vincent: Are you Jewish?
Jules: Nah, I ain’t Jewish, I just don’t dig on swine, that’s all.
Vincent: Why not?
Jules: Pigs are filthy animals. I don’t eat filthy animals.
Vincent: Bacon tastes gooood. Pork chops taste gooood.
Jules: Hey, sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie, but I’d never know ‘cause I wouldn’t eat the filthy thing. Pigs sleep and root in poo. That’s a filthy animal. I ain’t eat nothin’ that ain’t got enough sense enough to disregard its own feces.

First of all, I agree with the observation about Christological dimension.

My favorite scene from the movie was when ET was about to enter the space ship and go home and was saying farewelll to Eliot. He touched his heart and said “I’ll be right here.”

Makes me puddle right up! :crying:

I cant believe no one has mentioned it yet.
Pulp Fiction - “Oh I’m sorry, did I break your concentration?”

And at least one other has stated it already, but it bears repeating.
Jaws - “You’re gonna need a bigger boat.”

.02 duly deposited.

OhioBob:
My memory is mush, but I can recall a few favorites:

Jesus of Nazareth: A tie between Peter’s confession that Jesus is the Messiah at Caeserea (sp.) Phillipi and Jesus’ telling of the parable of the Prodigal Son;

Ghost: The scene at the end when heaven is opened for Sam (not exactly Catholic theology, but pretty moving anyway);
I agree with both.
