ET where the kids are fleeing the feds on their bikes and rise up in the air by ET’s superior powers. I always felt this movie has a Christological dimension, whether Speilberg intended it or not. still one of my favorites.QUOTE]

First of all, I agree with the observation about Christological dimension.

My favorite scene from the movie was when ET was about to enter the space ship and go home and was saying farewelll to Eliot. He touched his heart and said “I’ll be right here.”

Makes me puddle right up! :crying:
yes, but there is thge issue that the christological dimension is warped. Because there is no redemption, nothing really changes after ET’s departure.

Thought of another…

At the end of Return of the King (LOTR), when Aragorn kneels to the hobbits.

:crying: :crying: :crying:

(*Pulp Fiction *aside: I wonder which tastes best? A *Royale *with Cheese, a Big Kahuna Burger, or a Durwood Kirby burger? Whichever, I’m sure it goes best with a five-dollar milkshake)

Napoleon Dynamite: Lyle slaughtering the cow.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off: The race home.

yeah, even the movie was absolutly dripping with catholicism

The scene that ALWAYS makes me choke up is in To Kill a Mockingbird. At the end the trial, with Scout up in the balcony with the black people, the elderly black man stands up and tells Scout, “Stand up, Scout; you’re father’s passing.” To me, that is the most awesome scene ever.

At the end of Napolean Dynamite, when he dances.

The “Old Time Rock & Roll”/Tom underwear scene in Risky Business.

When Ferris sings in the parade in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

When Michael (Andy Garcia) says good bye to Jessie and Casey (his little girls) in When a Man Loves a Woman.:crying:

When Gus and Woodrow are talking at the end of Lonesome Dove, right before Gus dies.:crying:

When Bob (David Duchovney) gets all dressed up to go to O’Reilly’s Italian restaurant to ask Grace (Minnie Driver) on a date in Return to Me.

Forrest Gump:
When Jenny teaches Forrest to dance and Sweet Home Alabama is playing.
When he asks her to marry him, and he says “I might not be a smart man, but I know what love is” and then he walks out onto the front porch with his hands on his hips.
When he sits down beside her in the mud and says…“sometimes there just aren’t enough rocks”.
And…oh, it’s too many in Forrest Gump to count.

The end of The Breakfast Club, when they all walk out of the school together and Emilio Estevez and Ally Sheedy say goodbye.

When Duckie gives Andie his hand and they walk into the prom together in Pretty in Pink.

Love that too! Or when Frodo broads the ship and looks back at the other hobbits. He looks like he is already healed–like someone who has died and been resurrected. I lose it every time! ❤️

Legally Blond:
Warner to Elle: “YOU got into Harvard?”
Elle: “What? Like it’s hard?”

Tootsie
Michael (Dustin Hoffman) " “I was a tomato! A beautiful, juicy, beefsteak tomato! I was a stand up tomato!!”

October Sky
At the end when Homer’s dad finally shows up to a rocket launch. (sniff)

Beyond the Forest
Bette Davis: “What a dump!”

Sofie’s Choice
The scene at Auschwitz upon arrival with Sofie and the children. (I bawled for 2 full hours aftwards!!)

I always like the downtown scene where the party is going on to the music of Twist and Shout.

Back to the Future I
When Marty thinks that Doc Brown dies but Doc reads the future note and wears a bulletproof vest…and a bunch of other scenes in that movie! Biff and the manure truck!

Gosh, I have tons of scenes from movies that I love.
CASABLANCA: when the whole bar erupts into singing the French anthem.
GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD: the resurrection of Lazarus.

BRIAN’S SONG (the 1972 original version) when Gayle Sayers (Billy Dee Williams) gives a speech dedicating his award to his dying friend Brian Piccolo.

E.T. : when Elliot and E.T. say their final goodbye.
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS: The parting of the waters of the Red Sea.
THE LION KING: The opening number, “Circle of Life”
QUEEN CHRISTINA: When Christina (Greta Garbo) publically abdicates her throne in front of all her subjects.
ARTHUR: the final scene in the film, where Arthur agrees to take the 740 million dollars inheritance from his feisty Aunt.
BILLY JACK (I’m really dating myself now): When Billy Jack finally agrees to surrender himself. I saw that movie 11 times as a kid, I loved it.
I could go on and on and on, but I won’t.
Love,

“THE WAY WE WERE”

The way Barbra Streisand “fixes” Robert Redford’s hair. In fact, she does it twice in the movie, gets me every time.

Peace.

Gone with the Wind,

Being There when Chance the Gardener is interviewed by the reporter and made to sound like a genius
.
Loved that scene in being there. Also Scarlett frankly my dear I don’t give a ****.

Best scene…

The final scene in The Killing Fields when Sam Waterson emerges from his tent to see his buddy Pran(?) has made it out alive and the Lenon tune ‘Imagine’ kicks in. Man, I cried like a baby right there in the middle of the theater.

The opening scene in the first X-Men movie…when Magneto (as a child) in a Nazi death camp is separated from his parents, and manifests his powers. It always makes for a better villain when you understand their motivations… 👍

Star Trek: don’t remember which movie. Kirk moves to give Spock a hug. Spock stops him with a look, and says:
“Captain, please. Not in front of the Klingons.”

How about Tommy Boy with Chris Farley and David Spade?

“Fat guy in a little co-at…” :rotfl:

Planes, Trains and Automobiles - when they wake up and they realize they are holding each other

Return to Me - almost every scene but especially the restaurant scene where David Duchovny is on a date with this obnoxious person and the whole bottled water thing

and when all the older guys are dancing with each other

and when Carroll O’Connor is praying in the chapel

Field of Dreams - last scene - I blubber every time

Scarlet and Black - when the Monsignor tells the Nazi off at the party

Man Without a Face - final scene when they wave to each other

To Kill a Mockingbird - scene where they stand as he leaves the courtroom

Strictly Ballroom - when the older dancers are reminiscing - what a hoot

Passion - “I make all things new” and He picks up that cross- gets me every time.

Schindlers List: When Schindler looks at his gold pen he is holding in his hand and beings to weep as he says something of the sort; I could have bought 4 or 5 more with this.

Jaws: The boasting of the tatoos when Quint goes into his speal about the USS Indianapolis
