This novena to St. Joseph which is on EWTN and that I am praying continues to raise questions.
Today’s meditation discusses how the “bestowal of the name of Jesus” on Mary’s child “pointed to future misfortune”. Where in the Scripture is this discussed? Matthew 1:21 does not seem to suggest the name of Jesus as being an indicator of misfortune, nor have I ever heard this come up in a discussion or meditation on the Holy Name of Jesus.
I tried to research it online but all I found was some past thread on this forum where a person who seemed disturbed (to put it kindly) was ranting about Jesus being an adaptation of the pagan Zeus. I think we can safely ignore that and file it under “confused person posting”.
Help me out here…it may be in an obvious place in the Bible and I’m just not remembering it.
