When I saw this town hall advertised on TV, I couldn’t believe it. I thought the world had forgotten about Greta since Coronavirus. But, anyway, this is ridiculous. I don’t get why Mom insists on having CNN on all the time.

Having Greta as one of the panelists is no worse than having Tucker Carlson and other unqualified talking heads opine about medical matters on Fox. Besides, Greta has proved herself very good at mobilizing a cooperative response, which is something we need to have to get through this pandemic together.

Theo520. I was expecting one of your Babylon Bee links.

But this is funnier!

Does anyone care what she has to say? This is just an instance of using a child to score political points. That’s all it ever has been.

Yes it is . . . . from CNN.
Fox did the same thing. I remember Bill O’Reilly having some teenage conservative on his show who just parroted talking points. I remember reading about an atheist girl who did these anti-revivals in the early twentieth century. It’s always cheesy and disgusting to use kids like that.

Another thing is that her activism has nothing to do with the pandemic anyway. What is she going to say: keep people at home and the economy down until we reduce emissions enough?

Great post. And it is a good idea to have hear something form the perspective of younger folk.

If one desires to hear the opinion of the children, they should go procreate. I am interested in what makes my kids tick.

Is CNN going to ask her to sit on the a panel to discuss next year’s March madness too?

One may not like Carlson. But he doesn’t belong on Babylon Bee.

We’re not talking about censoring CNN like others want to censor Carlson, they want to look silly, have at it.

Babylon Bee will be jealous they didn’t scoop CNN about Greta.

Years ago, the late Glenn Brenner, sports guy at Channel 9 Washington DC, had “guest prognosticators” on to talk about the week’s football games.

The most successful guest was a cloistered nun from the District.

For much of her life, Sister Marie Louise led a quiet existence at Georgetown Visitation, praying at regular intervals during the day, putting on plays at the convent school and helping out with the needs of boarding students. Throughout it all, however, she maintained a passionate interest in sports of all kinds.

The spotlight turned on her after WUSA-TV sportscaster Glenn Brenner asked her to be one of his weekly celebrity prognosticators on Channel 9 during the pro football season.

When Sister Marie Louise beat almost all competitors – including newscasters Dan Rather, Maureen Bunyan and Connie Chung; boxer Sugar Ray Leonard; actors William Shatner and Pee-Wee Herman (Paul Reubens); members of the Temptations; and football stars Sonny Jurgensen and Mark Rypien – People magazine and other publications came courting.

I remember the sister and Glenn Brenner, growing up in MD.

I am all for this sort of thing on light-hearted topics like sports. As serious as things like pandemics like to be, I don’t think Dennis Rodman, Tiny Tim, or Greta Thunberg have any place on such a serious panel.

Including her because she’s as unqualified as other extremely unqualified panelists is a poor justification. Why not just include qualified people? She’s a child with severe anxiety problems and very simplistic world view. She needs to be reassured that everything will be ok and that the adults in the room will handle the problem. Pulling her into policy discussions is just cruel.

Because she does have one qualification: Connecting with the public. Also it is just speculation that others are “pulling” her. From all I have seen from her earlier actions, she is strong-willed and not easily “pulled” by anyone.

Hey, if people think there is value in listening to a child with no background on pandemics speak on a panel, go for it. It says a lot about them.

I suspect watching the Children’s Television Workshop would be more valuable, but hey.

Oh please. She’s a child who is being exploited for the sake of a political argument. No different from a child being a ‘preacher’ in the old days.
