I ask who ever is in change of these threads to please have mercy on me and remove this thread. It was a mistake to post it. I have learned my lesson.
Why was it a mistake to post this thread? If you feel some posters have been too harsh, maybe consider why you disagree so strongly?

If you are confused about kissing, talk to your Priest. No-one here means to offend by talking about your older posts or by suggesting you reflect on your relationship.

Lou

When I chose not to kiss my BF it hurts him which in turn hurts me.
Why not turn the tables and have your boyfriend feel bad for asking too much?
But, everywhere I look online they make it seem like if a couple kisses before marriage they are going to hell.
Not true, this is an online forum and people here have told you it is OK to kiss. Not true at all.

As for talking to your priest, I honestly don’t think he is going to tell you anything people here have not already said.

I think there was good advice in this thread. I also think the OP just doesn’t want to hear it and that is why she is attempting to shut down the thread.

But, to the OP, if she is still reading, I don’t think kissing is what you should be so concerned about. Kiss briefly and chastely and move on. If the BF pressures you for more, tell him it has to be saved for marriage. If he can’t respect that, he’s not the man for you. Period.

Work on discerning if this is the man for you. Don’t jump into marriage because a man has shown interest in you. Marriage is forever and a serious vocation so you need to spend more time together to see if this man is going to help you get you to heaven or not.

Kateri, what if your husband disagrees with you or tells you something you don’t want to hear? How will you react? Will you shut him down the same way you did to us in this thread?

Mercy is for the contrite. You are sorry you posted this question because you got answers you did not like: that is not contrition.

What do your parents think about this relationship? Have they met this young man? Have you and they discussed it?

What about your friends? Have they met him? What’s their opinion about him and your relationship?

I know it is easy to draw conclusions from my previous posts but I ask that my privacy on this subject be respected and that my question stand alone without reference to my previous posts. I don’t feel like defending myself from people who do not know me or my bf. In other situations your opinions would be absolutely correct. But I rather not divulge all the details of my relationship on the internet. Please respect my privacy and allow my post to stand alone. Thank you.
Your posting history here on CAF may be an example of you not thinking your actions through to their possible consequences. This is the very thing that members are attempting to caution you about with your situation.

You may not have taken the time to read the forum rules before posting, just like you are not taking to time to prepare for your relationship adequately.

Do not post anything on this web site that you do not want to remain online permanently.

The posts you wrote are part of your posting history and you cannot expect that people will ignore what you have posted. Your request seems to indicate that you don’t want to take responsibility for what you have posted.

At the same time, you are not required to post any personal details about your life here. You are posing a very personal question, and people have asked for some details to assist you, but you have no obligation to supply them. Some questions for you to ponder might be:
  1. Why are you coming to CAF asking this question? Part of you seems to want advice and help.
  2. Why do you get so defensive when someone tells you something you don’t want to hear? You wish to purport that you have maturity, but one sign of maturity is the willingness to accept feedback from others (even if you don’t agree with it)
  3. Why is it so important to you that this question “stand alone”? Why do you want members to ignore what has been previously posted? It gives the impression that you are not being honest with yourself.
God bless you. I will add you to my prayer list.

Having a humble, gentle, and teachable spirit helps us to navigate the minefields in life. Although I’m typing this for you, it’s also a reminder to me as well.

You know Jesus spoke in parables to teach us things. You can look at our current culture, see what mistakes people have made, and like a parable, learn from their mistakes so that you don’t have to do them. It’s smart. It will save you a lot of grief. The flip side of the coin is that people have walked in God’s blessing, stayed the course to walk with God, and found blessing over the years. They too have a story to tell and if you want to be smart, learn from their example too.

I hope you continue to come here and ask questions of faith. Remaining in God’s blessing is a very smart way to live your life. I wish for all Catholic people of marrying age that they hold out until they find another Catholic person. Someone who goes to the sacraments without being told they have to go. Someone who is looking to follow God’s will. This is a person that you can hold hands and move forward together. Don’t settle for less than this.

The virtues are something that the Church teaches and they are a light onto your path, my path. It’s worth it to study them, try to put them into practice. Having a friend who you can talk virtues with, employ them daily, is a great friend. Someone worth dating. Have a look at them and see how very smart it would be to learn them and try to live your life by them. Maybe you could discuss this with your boyfriend and see how to start putting them into practice. May God bless and guide you today.
