People can read this paper to get an lds view on the bible:

fairlds.org/pubs/Inerrant.pdf

You will see that even the early church fathers claimed that the jews left certain information out of the bible. See page 2.

Unfortunately, it did not allow me to cut and paste the article. šŸ™‚

Why would I be banned? I have not offended anyone. 🤷 I think that the mormon response in the link tells just what the lds church thinks about the bible.
Never mind, I must have you confused with another person. But anyway, the resources you got are good.

Jews did give the world the bible, yes. Why do you ask?
Because Justin the martyr claimed that the jews left certain things out of the bible.

Seel link page two. Also other church fathers claimed that the bible had been corrupted. See the above link in one of my previous posts for exact quotations from the early church fathers.

Okay then, but only the protestant bibles are corrupt. The King James Version is gold; so full of willful mistranslations. It’s a great laugh to read the altered verses.
That is okay. Who was banned?
Soutane, I think.

God blesss you anyway. I’m off for lunch now, japanese noodle soup today.

So according to the logic of the Catholics here, we have no right to use the Old Testament unless by permission from the Jews, or unless we become Jews!
That is incorrect Zerinus, becuase statistically, Jews are now Catholic/ Christian anyway. So the new Jews are actually Catholics now. So you must not use the Old Testament unlesss you have permission from us Catholics/ the Pope.

I think that the ā€œJewsā€ would take issue with that.
If they have a problem with that, tell them to come to me in person. šŸ˜‰

P.S. Why do you think that Jews are still the chosen people of God? They refuse Christ do they not? They are no longer Jews but just a shadow instead. Zerinus, God wants us to accept his only Son. We must accept his Son.

The Catholics argue that the Mormon use of the ā€œCatholicā€ Bible is inconsistent with their belief in the apostasy of the early Christian Church. By the same token, the Jews could argue that the Catholic use of the ā€œJewishā€ Bible is inconsistent with their belief in the apostasy of the Jewish religion.

We were talking about Jews but now mormons!? How did that happen Zerinus? The Jews even say that Jesus was a liar. They don’t believe in Christ so… they have no say over the New Testament.

I’m sure they think that the bible is unreliable. They do love the apostle John though.

Here is their evidence that even the apostle John knew that the church was commiting heresy at the time;

Revelations;

Last chapter, verse 18

I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

In other words, they were already adding heresy to the teachings of christianity and they had alrerady ommited some teachings too.
Rev Cain Spencer,
It is important that it be made clear to whichever person thinks a similar thing to what you have written here about the LDS and the Bible, that the Bible is taken literally more by the LDS than by any other religion, particularly when applying the kind of approach taken by Peter and by Paul and by John to discern the meaning and the teachings behind the words, and to discern the Holy Spirit.

As an example, it is to take away from the words of the book of Revelation to not acknowledge that there was to be another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, ā€œand to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people.ā€ It is to take away from the words of the book of Revelation to make the words ā€œinherit all thingsā€ not mean ā€œinherit all thingsā€ and to make the words ā€œTo him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throneā€ not mean exactly that.

Peace to you and all.

But the body and blood of Christ… you mormons don’t see that teaching in the New Testament? I’m sure you think that most of the New Testament was written in heresy?

Questioning that if the apostasy claims authority was stripped from the world, did the CC have the authority to compile the Bible in the first place? Does the CC lacking authority invalidate in anyway the compilation of the Bible ??..Or the compilation of the Bible it completely irrelevant to whether or not the CC had authority?

The thread is about the Mormons, no Jews. Look at post #1. I was replying to that. I brought up the Jews in order to show the inconsistency of the Catholic argument. The Catholic argument that the Catholic Church gave us the Bible, therefore Mormons (and others) who believe in the Apostasy of the early Christian Church have no right to use it, would be like the Jews arguing that they gave the world the Old Testament, therefore the Christians who believe the Jewish religion is not the true religion have no right to use it.
The Jews even say that Jesus was a liar. They don’t believe in Christ so… they have no say over the New Testament.
That is beside the point. Mormons also believe that the early Christianity apostatized.

Jesus was Jewish right? The Jewish people who are devout Jews are are big brothers and sisters. At Mass we read from both the Old and the New, changing nothing. It fits together perfectly as it should when you look at truth as not changing. . Not only does the Mormon Church add to the Scriptures it also goes back and changes them, their meaning to fit as they desire it to fit for themselves. Completey different.

If an angel comes and preaches another gospel to you, let………we all know that right?

Taking scriptures out of the Bible like baptism for the dead and turning it into something completely contrary to what it is speaking about (Paul) and forming a whole different religion around it is sinful, it is evil because it tries to keep souls away from the truth, truth that saves souls. It makes people believe that they are saving souls by their good own works., that without them as a group of believers it would not be possible. it distorts the very Priesthood that Christ established, it runs on pride and it runs on ego pure and simple. Its all about the fall, ā€œourā€ fallen nature.

When you have to take portions of scripture out of the Holy Bible and take these portions of scripture to another book that was written by a man to interpret it, this to is sinful and evil as it keeps souls away from the One True Christian God.

Taking the Holy Trinity, changing its meaning, making it into different separate gods takes people away from the One true God making them believe that it is through their own strength that they can achieve a certain level of success. Rather than surrendering their lives over to the real One True God which is life itself. It is through complete surrender of self, that by the ā€˜grace’ of God we go. The key is found in this beautiful Catholic prayer to Jesus: Yes we can pray directly to Him…He is also God, One in being with the Father…

Dear Zerinus,
Print this prayer off, read it in a quiet place, try to understand its core value… Even though you were not baptised with the right formula you can still hear it all around you, calling you into the truth of Trinity. Into the truth that is Jesus himself, into the Love that is Jesus Himself.
O Jesus! meek and humble of heart, hear me.
From the desire of being esteemed, deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being loved,
From the desire of being extolled,
From the desire of being honored,
From the desire of being praised,
From the desire of being preferred to others,
From the desire of being consulted,
From the desire of being approved,
From the fear of being humiliated, deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being despised,
From the fear of suffering rebukes,
From the fear of being calumniated,
From the fear of being forgotten,
From the fear of being ridiculed,
From the fear of being wronged,
From the fear of being suspected,
That others may be loved more than I, O Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be esteemed more than I,
That, in the opinion of the world, others may, increase and I may decrease,
That others may be chosen and I set aside,
That others may be praised and I unnoticed,
That others may be preferred to me in everything,
That others may become holier than I, provided that I may become as holy as I should, O Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.

But the body and blood of Christ… you mormons don’t see that teaching in the New Testament? I’m sure you think that most of the New Testament was written in heresy?
Not at all. Christ gave the teachings in John 6, that He is the Bread of life and the living Bread, as a direct teaching that they would know that He fulfilled the Manna given to the children of Israel in the wilderness. He gave that teaching before the Last Supper. The fact that He is the living Bread and the Bread of life does not relate to the Last Supper in the way your religion has taken the meaning off on a tangent.

The blood of Christ was shed for all mankind, not just for Catholics, nor just for believing Catholics. To remember the atoning grace of Christ is to remember His atoning blood and to be grateful for His having given His life for all of us to live in a state of grace and be redeemed and be resurrected with real bodies in a real resurrection.

John 6:53-58, 66-67
*"So Jesus said to them, ā€˜Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me. This is the bread which came down from heaven, not such as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live forever.’ After this many of his disciples drew back and no longer went about with him. *

*Jesus said to the twelve, ā€˜Will you also go away?’" *

*It is what He has given that has held the Church together for 2000 years. Parker it’s why you can say his name. Without Holy Communion for 2000 years you would not have ever heard the word ā€œMormonā€ *

*It is the heart of our faith, never watered down. Until you sit at that very table, until you embrace the HolyCross your eyes will never be fully opened. *

In Christ
