Respectfully, the
legality of the issue has no bearing on whether it is moral. Biologically speaking, new human life begins at conception, and our politicians would do well to recognize this fact. Abortion is first and foremost the destruction of an innocent human being. That makes it morally equivalent to other forms of willful murder. One purpose of laws is to enforce moral and ethical behavior. However, an immoral law (such as legal abortion) is odious, and must be opposed without compromise.
Catholics cannot “personally” oppose this issue, or that issue, but fail to act upon that opposition in the public sphere – to do so amounts to complicity. It’s not so much an issue of “forcing religious determinations” as it is an issue of protecting the innocent. In light of this, Biden and Pelosi, who publicly oppose what the Church teaches on this matter, are not good choices to send to the Papal inauguration.
If I sound harsh, I don’t mean to be. ** I just get tired of the “I personally oppose X, but I won’t push my beliefs on others” line.** If you believe something is wrong, stand up for it!

I don’t like intrusive government either, but I dislike governments that actively promote evil even more.
