When Bush was a young man he was flying single-seater, single-engine supersonic interceptors equipped with radar-guided missiles. On alert. At night. In close formation. In bad weather. Over water. Without mid-air refueling. With complex computer/radar systems. A difficult set of skills for anyone to master. Not everyone has the ability to do what he did. It takes a lot of coordination and motor skills and judgement and the ability to learn very complicated electronics. So, I would suggest that the stories of Bush’s substance abuse was exaggerated, because anyone who was impaired would not have been able to get that F-102 off the ground.
You’re right, Monte.👍

So please, at least be consistent.
I am. The president (and Bush) talked about their past and I let it go. We are just finding out about this candidate in DE. She can admit previous dabblings and I will let it go.

Others here seem to keep bringing up the background of only one president. Isn’t that strange?
Let me start off by saying that I don’t condone Bush lying about his being arrested, IF HE DID.
It is well-documented that he did. But back to the thread topic.

Admit :banghead:? it was part of her testimony as to her past and why she became the head of The Savior’s Alliance for Lifting the Truth, the reason she was a reoccurring guest on Politically Correct in the first place

Admit … ?
Well, there’s her campaign finance folderol, her personal finance fooling around, her claim she attended Oxford University … Have we explored these items in her background?

I guess now folks will bring up the president on those, too.

That’s not the point Beau. The point is that there was absolutely no real scrutiny of Obama, and anything that did turn up was marginalized.

So it is pure hypocrisy for the same people who gave Obama a pass to want to dissect their political adversaries and examine them under a microscope.

That’s the consistency that is still missing from this process.

It is important for Christine O’Donnell to be present for the Lame Duck session of Congress from November 15 to January 1. Because she could be the deciding vote in stopping Cap & Trade in the Senate. [It already was approved by the House of Representatives.]

Christine O’Donnell has already pledged to vote against it and to campaign against it.

Whereas, the Democrat Chris Coons has promised to vote FOR Cap & Trade.

I strongly disagree. Any time a candidate’s grammar school success and teacher were examined, that is strong scrutiny. Folks just disagree with what is an ‘aha!’ moment.

Well, I think you are wrong. The items which people seemed to presume were a smoking gun about the president really were of no moment. And I’m not going to hijack this thread to go into them here.

But, you are running a logical fallacy. Even if the present candidate is getting more scrutiny, the fact is that she deserves scrutiny. We have been over many times whether or not the president got a pass and we have your views on that issue. Time to move on.

Here’s evidence of the hypocrisy, pure and simple.

I have never suggested that candidates should receive no scrutiny, all candidates should be properly vetted. I have also never said that Ms. O’Donnell is the best candidate ever. (She’s probably better than a confessed communist tho’.)

But it is pure hypocrisy to give one candidate a pass and subject a political adversary to endless nitpicking. And that is exactly what is going on here, and, in this situaion, at least some of it is clearly sexist and the rest is partisan hypocrisy.

That’s where you went wrong. No candidate got a pass.

Endless nitpicking? I think the under-employed Ms. O’Donnell, who does not submit herself to any but friendly questioners, has not been scrutinized enough.

False.

Obama’s records are still sealed.

The president who campaigned for a more “open government” and “full disclosure” will not unseal his medical records, his school records, his birth records or his passport records. He will not release his Harvard records, his Columbia College records, or his Occidental College records—he will not even release his Columbia College thesis. All his legislative records from the Illinois State Senate are missing and he claims his scheduling records during those State Senate years are lost as well. In addition, no one can find his school records for the elite K-12 college prep school, Punahou School, he attended in Hawaii.

Call Oliver Stone!

Just unseal the records.

If he has nothing to hide, then why is he hiding?

Just unseal the record.

The only precedent for hiding his past would be Bill Clinton’s refusal to release his medical records. But he didn’t inhale, so why the fuss about releasing his medical records.

Just unseal the records.

Maybe when O’Donnell runs agains Obama in 2012, she will release her records when he releases his.

I thought that the topic was “Bill Maher digs up [Senate candidate] O’Donnell ‘witchcraft’ clip”? What does this have to do with someone elses birth certificate?

BHO was never fully vetted by the press, during his run for the US Senate the democratic machine knee capped the republican who won the primary by getting the Chicago Tribune to get a judge to unseal the divorce records of Mr. Ryan. This made his senate win a shoe in.

In the presidential run there should have been a full exam of what he had done in his professional life, you know had he ever run anything. He didn’t and he does not appear to be a very effective executive.

It was not Obama or the Democrats who got the newspaper to sue to unseal the records and he would have beaten Ryan anyway. If Ryan had any guts he would have stayed in the race – among the folks who sought to replace him was a guy who wears a colonial powdered wig. Instead, the IL GOP found a black face to run against him in the farcical campaign of Alan Keyes, who had one statement the head of the IL GOP called “idiotic”. Since Obama had been a state senator for years, I don’t know what additional vetting was called for and I disagree that he was not fully investigated.

Discuss the thread.

I think the president’s professional life, much of which is part of the public record, got a very thorough going-over. Conspiracy theorists and rumor-mongers abound, however.

I was not refering to birth certificates and such, I was talking about real live managerial or executive experience. Other than the Republican Party trying to shine a light on the lack of experience, there was no media outlet that took a long look at SEN Obama’s professional credentials. There should have been many questions as to why he believed he could run the United States despite the fact that he never ran a business, an agency, a state. Where was the media on this issue.

This relates to to the thread in that it demonstrates the hypocrisy that we continue to see out of the traditional media. Christine O’Donnell, Sharon Angle, Rand Paul, George W. Bush get a media colonoscopy and the democrats get a pass.

Let’s see the Chicago Tribune which owned the Chicago Cubs could not get Mayor Daley and the City Council of Chicago to approve the Bleacher Expansion project. Suddenly, they file a lawsuit to get the divore records from the divorce of Gerry & Jack Ryan unsealed. Why would the Chicago Tribune be so interested in the divorce records of Jack Ryan, divorce is common place in the US today and I don’t remember anyother politician having their divorce records the subject of a newspaper investigation. How did the Chicago Tribune know that there was an embarrising fact in those records. HMMMMMMM!!!

In 2005 the City Council gives the Chicago Cubs the approval to expand the bleachers…HMMMMMMMM!!!
