I’m sorry, Lypher, what did your rant have to do with birth control and total population???

Their seems to be a segment of of society that is pushing an agenda that is both social in nature and yet dehumanizes man. It is not just the left. G.W. Bush signed the WHTI. My point is that our great country is in for a very large change. Not as large as Europe with its importation of Muslim labor, at least we have Catholic South Americans for another 15-20 years and then they will have no excess labor to send. They too have bought into the depopulation myth and their birthrates are also falling.

I apologize if you could not follow my rant… I did not intend to offend just put out some statistical facts that you can check.

God Bless You…

By the way I love Placerville… I grew up in Elk Grove… You live in a nice part of the State… 🙂

Hi Lypher,

Though I understand what you are saying relative to certain distinct groups of the population, my concern is with the total. Perhaps you went to the real time population clock and discern what I mean. math.berkeley.edu/~galen/popclk.html in case you didn’t.

As for populations that are declining, that is wonderful. At least they are not adding to the over taxed resources of the planet. I guess if established money wasn’t such a brake on progress, we would have food for all the new ones, but instead we have Monsanto and King Corn with all of their dire consequences for our children, of whatever race and religion they might be. Corporations don’t seem to think that there is any responsibility to the future other than profit for the current owners and shareholders, a sociopathic stance at best. Concern for the economy is wonderful, but whose economy is it, and what good will it be if there is not a world to have an economy in?

I also find it disappointing that you seem to see these matters in terms of religions and races rather than ideas, which are more universal. Faith is wonderful, but necessarily exclusive of fundamental factors in the overall picture. As for socialism, particularly health care, consider this: In our country, for instance, on average we pay nearly than twice ($7,290/yr) what the nearest country to us pays in medical costs, ($4,417/ year) including insurance. Along with that we have a public cost for an already installed social medical insurance, soon to be augmented by a VAT. In the mean time we have far fewer people covered than any other first world country and our life expectancy is declining. (this is from stats in the January 2010 Nat Geo) Also, there is no other first world country in which families go broke and end up on the street because of medical expenses. My Canadian and other foreign friends are laughing at the insanity of this nation in order to keep from weeping. But this is the kind of unloving, adversarial, dog-eat-dog competition we have bought for ourselves with our dollar votes under the drugging influence of commercial propaganda.

And are our public roads to all go private? And the Police and Fire departments? All public services to the poor and indigent? Shall the Church sell its treasures to help them and the government stand by while private interest prey on people? Shall we let fall our national treasures like Yellowstone, Yosemite, etc, to commercialization? If you love the Placerville area and were involved with the City Council and County Board of Supervisors as I am, you might join me in being up in arms at the destruction of resources, history, agricultural land and other gems that they are actively ruining in the name of big box stores and fast food.

I am sorry, but in my lights “socialism” is an epithet now used to inflame people who think we actually live in a fantasy democracy, not the plutocracy it actually is. There is enough money in our military budget, which is over 55% of our overt government expenditures to solve all of our food, housing, energy, educational and foreign relations problems if we would help people instead of use them as resources to make money or to take things from.

What does all this have to do with birth control? Less total population coupled with a more Christian attitude from corporations and governments would greatly ease the forthcoming crisis you accurately speak of, though I consider that your reasons for them may use some reconsideration.

I just went through Elk Grove on my return from a visit in Claremont down south. Where do you live now? I’m north of p’ville on 49 where I have my home and studio.

When people say we shouldn’t make laws that are strictly Catholic and making the claim that ‘what if Muslims did the same thing’, I think people are forgetting that the Catholic religion is the ONLY true religion and the ONLY one started by God.

Missionaries used to tear down altars to Pagan gods without a second thought. For example, St. Boniface cut down that Pagan tree and his actions were approved by all Catholics.

We can’t say “no, can’t put these Catholic laws in, because it’s against the constitution”, because the constitution is a man made, flawed document. Putting in Catholic laws simply is putting in laws that God Himself sanctions. Wouldn’t this be better for all mankind? This isn’t ‘Catholicism or the sword’ for anybody, but simply helps promote the one, true religion.

Pope Pius IX, Quanta Cura (#’s 3-6),Dec. 8, 1864, ex cathedra:

“From which totally false idea of social government they do not fear to foster that erroneous opinion, most fatal in its effects on the Catholic Church and the salvation of souls, called by Our predecessor, Gregory XVI, an insanity, NAMELY, THAT ‘LIBERTY OF CONSCIENCE AND WORSHIP IS EACH MAN’S PERSONAL RIGHT, WHICH OUGHT TO BE LEGALLY PROCLAIMED AND ASSERTED IN EVERY RIGHTLY CONSTITUTED SOCIETY… But while they rashly affirm this, they do not understand and note that they are preaching liberty of perdition… Therefore, BY OUR APOSTOLIC AUTHORITY, WE REPROBATE, PROSCRIBE, AND CONDEMN ALL THE SINGULAR AND EVIL OPINIONS AND DOCTRINES SPECIALLY MENTIONED IN THIS LETTER, AND WILL AND COMMAND THAT THEY BE THOROUGHLY HELD BY ALL THE CHILDREN OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH AS REPROBATED, PROSCRIBED AND
CONDEMNED.”

“LIBERTY OF CONSCIENCE AND WORSHIP IS EACH MAN’S PERSONAL RIGHT, WHICH OUGHT TO BE LEGALLY PROCLAIMED AND ASSERTED IN EVERY RIGHTLY CONSTITUTED SOCIETY” is condemned!

If anything I have said here doesn’t make sense, please show me why

Yes, but even current projection have us capping at 9 Billion and then declining world wide. In fact they will likely revise those numbers downwards as the worldwide population of children under 5 is less now then it was in 2000. We are already starting to fall.
As for populations that are declining, that is wonderful. At least they are not adding to the over taxed resources of the planet… ?
What people fail to count is increasing capacity. Please look at the total world production of grain in 1950 versus 2010. You would see that modern techniques can feed a lot more. We have distribution problems, not production issues.

I
also find it disappointing that you seem to see these matters in terms of religions… .
I lived in Italy for three years VAT is a terrible tax, well if you want to lock in an elite class it is fine, but it has a devastating effect on production. Costa Rica and Panama is already gearing up to accept the movement of our better Doctors. How fast do you think it will be before the State decides to force Medical Students to perform some National Service, basically a disguised servitude? They could possibly restrict issuance of Passports for certain professions that they do not want to lose, memories of the Iron Curtain.
And are our public roads to all go private? And the Police and Fire departments? All public services to the poor and indigent? Shall the Church sell its treasures to help them and the government stand by while private interest prey on people?.. .
Detroit is going to bulldoze 25% of the city, turn it back to nature… No people, no need for the abandoned homes.
I am sorry, but in my lights “socialism” is an epithet now used to inflame people who think we actually live in a fantasy democracy, not the plutocracy it actually is… .
I don’t think we have democracy and honestly democracy by itself can be brutal, but I did like the republic we once had. If you thought humanity was used before it will be far worse when we are bankrupt and the masses will do anything for a loaf of bread. Just look at the fall of the USSR for a comparison. You can also look to their example to see what we will do to the environment when China is calling in its markers…we will sell our National Treasures pennies to the dollar. It is going to be brutal until after the business cycle reset. It has taken Russia 20 years and they are not a democracy. Not in my mind anyway.

Births and people are a commodity to the large corporations and our government. The current administration is already pushing a revision of the number of Pap smears and Mammary Gland exams for women. They say that the new number is enough and the cost to continue at the current rate does not warrant the number of women saved. Sounds like rationing. As for religion I am happy that we do not have to worry about the Islamic Balkinization that Europe is going to have to go through…

Well, for Catholicism being the only 100% true religion, that’s simply a matter of logic, and as for it being the only one started by God, that’s simply a matter of history… so…

Lypher~ *Yes, but even current projection have us capping at 9 Billion and then declining world wide. In fact they will likely revise those numbers downwards as the worldwide population of children under 5 is less now then it was in 2000. We are already starting to fall.*If so that is great news!

~What people fail to count is increasing capacity. Please look at the total world production of grain in 1950 versus 2010. You would see that modern techniques can feed a lot more. We have distribution problems, not production issues. I understand what you mean, but we also have the issue of quality. eg cattle here are being raised in 14 months to market and need to be pumped with antibiotics because they live in their own feces. Yummy! And all that gets washed into rivers and seas and creates dead zones and deformities in wildlife. Corn is now a monopoly of the devil incarnate Monsanto and its genetically modified plants that are infecting native species with no understanding of long term effects of that. Why do you think seed banks are all the rage now? We also have evidence of harmful effects in humans from these, eg hormones effecting puberty rates and sugars incompatible with the human body. That’s just the tip of the iceberg.

~I lived in Italy for three years VAT is a terrible tax, well if you want to lock in an elite class it is fine, but it has a devastating effect on production. How fast do you think it will be before the State decides to force Medical Students to perform some National Service, basically a disguised servitude? They could possibly restrict issuance of Passports for certain professions that they do not want to lose, memories of the Iron Curtain. A bit of conjecture here, and how realistic is it that those tiny countries will absorb all our best? And since when is care of our brothers and sisters a matter of cash as distinct form care?

~Detroit is going to bulldoze 25% of the city, turn it back to nature… No people, no need for the abandoned homes. Yeaaa! That ought to happen to all the places where I’ve seen prime agricultural land covered with ticky tacky houses. We have the kind of solutions you allude to regarding people as well as food distribution, but they are unpopular due to the inertia of old money and planning commissions. Again, I invite you to sit in on some of the meetings I’ve been attending.

~I don’t think we have democracy and honestly democracy by itself can be brutal, but I did like the republic we once had. It is going to be brutal until after the business cycle reset. It has taken Russia 20 years and they are not a democracy. Not in my mind anyway. Yes, Thos. Jefferson said “We have more to fear from financial institutions than from standing armies.” He also said that “one morning your children will wake up to find that their properties have been mortgaged out from under them.” So we have had about 200 years fair warning, but decided that money for a few was more important than the public good.

As for resetting the business cycle, it is based on unsustainable expansion. We have had historically sustainable economies based on other principles than the defunct ideas of Adams. We have shifted, in fact from defining capitalism as the ownership of the mechanical, value added means of production to production of funds by means of non-value added financial instruments. Look to the Federal Reserve, which is neither, and Rothcheild and friends. Remember, one of them said “}let me control the money of a nation, and I care not who makes its laws.” Do you think that all this stuff is a conspiracy? No, it is a business plan.

~Births and people are a commodity to the large corporations and our government. As for religion I am happy that we do not have to worry about the Islamic Balkinization that Europe is going to have to go through… Yes, I heard several debates on this matter on NPR. It seems that there is, as you say, a factor of cost vs lives. It is a tough one, but being a plutocracy, the money will win out.

Do you think that we will not be effected by such an Islamic Balkanization, whatever in Reality that is? We are having our own Hispanic version of that at least here in California, and most of the Southwest, I’d say. But is interesting to me about that is that your concerns in the matter reflect our general inability to cross belief systems with the solvent of Universal Principle. I attribute this to individuals like us (and the alleged “them”) having parochial mind sets regarding the paradigms of Being and existence, not to mention religion, politics, science, etc ad n to the x.

~Big Pine Key Wow! yes, perpetual summer! Do you fish? Are you concerned about hurricanes? Sounds lovely, far better than Elk Grove!

lol nope. I’m interested, what religion are you Detales? I don’t know what Advaitist (Roaming Catholic) EsoChristian means

Exactly. How can declining fertility rates contribute to fewer workers contributing to the social security pot, when there aren’t enough jobs to go around all over the country as it is? If people kept popping out kids, it would just create a bigger unemployment percentage and further burden medicaid.
A big amen to that!

Aball,

Thank the God! Someone with a sense of humor.

Advaita is a Sanskrit word, roughly translated as “non-dualism.” Explanations of it, even in the Catholic Encyclopedia and other sources, are, in my opinion, sadly misleading and miss the mark. If you wish links to web sites of proponents of this remarkably insightful Way, I will send them by private message.

“Roaming Catholic” is the self administered label many of us who no longer participate in the Church have grouped ourselves under, no matter what we now might believe or adhere to. My departure came with the realization that the Church had no reasonable nor useful explanation for a life altering experience when I was 17. There was no lack of trying on my part, as I was a devoted, well catechized, proselytizing Catholic who could occasionally stump a cleric with a theological question. Sadly, I just didn’t find an adequate answer in the theology.

EsoChristian? A word I made up to fill a gap. If you have the gumption to do it, you might wish to read the introduction to Harry Benjamin’s Basic Self Knowledge, available at amazon.com/Basic-Self-Knowledge-Harry-Benjamin/dp/0877281629 under “first pages” at the illustration.

Many have tried to devise ways of regulating who sleeps with whom; they call it “berth control.” 🙂

You might care to learn the doctrinal teaching of the Church called “Natural Law”. The CCC gives you a quick, high level introduction, then, you can read the appropriate documents.
It’s funny you assume that just because we disagree I am the one in need of “education.”

Kind of rude to assume, don’t you think? Just sayin’…🤷

I am aware of the doctrine of natural law, by the way.

If we’re talking about need to learn about things based out of disagreements, I suggest you learn about God’s law and how he specifies its application to his people. Then read about how he specifies the certain necessary marks people must attain before they are called to be under those laws. Then look at the New Testmanet implications, specifically outlined in many of Paul’s epistles…

Besides, I’d like to see one instance of Jesus walking up to a non-jew (there were plenty in his area) and commanding them not to sin. He never even tells anyone not to sin (go and sin no more) until they have come to him, and expressed a desire to follow him! The obvious exception is the pharasees, but they were stating that they followed God, which clearly the were not. This is why he called them hypocrites.

In the Old Testmanet, it was specified that man was not held to the law until he had made a full entry into the hebrew faith and culture, culminating in his circumcision. The same is true for Catholics and Christians now. Until one is fully initiated, they are not expected to hold to the same laws.

Aside from scripture, lets look at this logically:

I think we can both agree that one can not earn their way into heaven. No amount of chastity, purity, and charity will get you in to heaven if you do not love Christ with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength.

That being said, what is the point of forcibly making other people ascribe to our moral code if they reject God? Are we thinking that we are saving them? I tell you from direct experience that forcing people under threat of legal action to follow a moral code based on a religion they don’t agree with will not only cause a rebellion, but drive those people further and further away from the true living God. Whole wars have been fought over this very issue.

So why force people to live the way we think they should when they are already committing the gravest of sins by utterly rejecting God?? Do we think we can save them by making sure (legally) that they never sin? This goes against the idea of grace. Not to mention it utterly violates everything the constitution of our nation stands for.

Jewish dietary and cultural laws are not part of natural law. Your post demonstrates that you do not understand natural law.

Natural law

Do not murder
Do not steal
Do not commit adultery
Do not bear false witness

etc.

These bind all mankind. Laws of sex and marriage are part of natural law. They bind all humans.

Kage_ar~“Laws of sex and marriage are part of natural law.” HUH??? Who’s laws and which ones? PLEASE don’t say “God’s”

Read the Catechism section posted above. It will help you learn about natural law.

We can already see the impact of population control.

Social Security is broke because boomers aborted, controlled, and avoided pregnancy so much so that their offspring aren’t numerous enough to support them. This trend is only continuing. I know that every cent paid into SS is money I can kiss completely goodbye. I’ll never see it again.
The failure of Social Security is not the result of abortion, etc. Social Security is a failure because the money collected has not been saved and invested specifically for those who have put the money in. Instead, it’s a transfer system, where the money put in by those who are working and paying the SS taxes are paid directly to those who are already retired. So instead of functioning as a government-mandated IRA account, SS is a de facto Ponzi scheme.
