In the opinion of his peers, who practice evidence based medicine, Dr. Nicolosi is specifically mentioned, which is highly unusual, as practicing in a way which is detrimental to the mental health of his patients. Parents and guardians are advised to avoid his brand of malpractice. **

Then it must also be your view that the APA should have resolved that the Catholic Church is wrong to regard to teach homosexuality as a sin? I don’t see how it has failed in any other way to excuse homosexuality as a mental disorder … why not also condemn the guilt associated with the sin as taught by the Catholic Church and most of Western Civilization until the disordered psychologists in the APA took over?

Why do you suppose the APA changed its mind about homosexuality as a mental disorder?

O my God, do you suppose because they were tired of taking on so many of them as patients? Or that the insurance companies balked at paying for the high fees of psychological counseling for the millions of disordered homosexuals?
hehe… Charlemage. You seem to have this knack for putting thoughts in my head and words in my mouth. I can’t quite match you ability to read minds or predict future utterances. When my answers don’t suit you, then you claim that I have not answered you.

I did not copy the entire APA policy statement, but it is quite clear in stating that that all faith traditions should be respected as a part of any sexuality therapy.

I understand the Catholic Church’s position that homosexuality is “disordered” in that it is not a procreative impulse. All sexual relations should be both “unitive” and “procreative”. Neither I, not the APA has said anything contradictory to that position.

If the Church has decided to weigh in on diagnostic criteria and definitions of mental health, then please provide me with the references to that. I would like to read what the Church has to say on the topic. But don’t waste my time with quacks like Nicolosi.

But what was I and others on the “other side” of this debate to him talking about?

I and others have been trying to take about real, non-radical feminists such as myself.

He has responded to our posts by giving quotes from radical feminists. That’s like giving quotes from Westboro Baptise Church to illustrate the views of all Christians.

If you and he cannot discuss the issue without becoming rude, I suggest you participate in other threads and tone your aggression down. I am not going to step out of this thread just because my opinion is not yours, either.
Then pay attention:
The topic of the thread IS about Radical Feminism. We are addressing the issue.

You’re the one who is veering off-topic . . .

A well-balanced and fair account of ALL feminists in existence…
Well, I’m glad you agree!

Those radicals are the ones who set the feminist agenda. Meltzerboy acknowledged that in post #15. The rest of society shot itself in the foot by listening and caving in to the rediculous demands of the noisy mob that followed the radicals. Now we see coming to fruition what it was the radical feminists wanted - supported by everyone who is a supposed feminist.

Yes - every doctor who disagrees with you is a quack.**
Sounds like denial to me . . .

No they weren’t. The ones who set the feminist “agenda” (why do you Americans use that word so much?) were Emmeline and Christabel Pankhurst and the original feminist movement - equality.

You’re picking the most extreme of the bunch to describe the majority. The majority of feminists are the majority of people in the Western world (I hope) - the belief that women should be entitled to the same rights as men. But believing just that fact is considered extreme radical feminism in many parts of the Middle East, however.

**Christabel Pankhurst - **

“It is our duty to make this world a better place for women.”

“We are here to claim our rights as women, not only to be free, but to fight for freedom. It is our privilege, as well as our pride and our joy, to take some part in this militant movement, which, as we believe, means the regeneration of all humanity.”

“What we suffragettes aspire to be when we are enfranchised is ambassadors of freedom to women in other parts of the world, who are not so free as we are.”

Emmaline Pankhurst -

“How different the reasoning is that men adopt when they are discussing the cases of men and those of women”

“We are here, not because we are law-breakers; we are here in our efforts to become law-makers.”

LemonAndLime, you need to take a deep breath and relax.
I’m not American.

My country gave the world one of the foremost, loudest, most vociferous, obnoxious radical feminists the world has ever seen; Germaine Greer. Her books have been sold by the millions around the world. Her outrageously Marxist, anti-family ideology is on view anywhere you care to look. Her influence on impressionable young girls has been immense. The damage she has wrought is incredible. Then she went to England and began to subvert British society under the guise of an academic professorship position the Brits foolishly gave her. The media have loved her because she is confrontational, outrageous and radical. The media love ‘radical’, so her influence has spread like wildfire. meanwhile, the so called ‘softer’ feminists you quote are unknown and unheard. Those who keep supporting “feminism” are really supporting the radicals, like Greer, because it is they who are famously holding the feminist agenda up for all the world to see. The Brits fell for it when they gave her an academic professorship and increased her credibility.

Women do earn less than men on average in the UK and USA, that is a fact so look it up.
I know. Why is that?
The most successful woman in my high school graduating class never had children. The next most successful woman had one child; in her late 30’s.
In my places of work, women with the same skills and education, who do the same job as long as men; get paid the same as men.
Equal opportunity does not equal, equal outcome; people make choices.
In the 1990’s, I noticed the “women’s movement” demanded equal outcome, and a majority of their leadership was lesbian. It is this lesbian lead feminism that seems to be anti-male and anti-feminine that I would call radical feminism.

I know. Why is that?
Excuse me, no offence, but how is your own personal opinion fact/true enough to add weight to this discussion? Seriously? You’re just one person, how can you have an overview of the whole situation? Please present facts, not “I heard” or “she said”.

Also, unless you have access to the gross annual pay packet of every single women and man you’ve come into contact with, you have no idea if they’re being paid equally.

And why do I think women still get paid less? Sexism still exists. Feminism is relatively knew. It’s also very hard for someone to get a successful conviction under this law.

I will calm down when people please start referring to people like Greer as radical feminists, or perhaps feminazis instead of just feminists. The thing I object to is painting the feminist movement with the same brush. It’s the first step towards demonising all women’s attempts for equality. The fact is, women still don’t have it. And by labelling feminists as evil, you’re undermining the efforts of moderate feminists all over the world who just want to be able to drive, get a job, get paid the same, vote, etc etc.

And phew, you’re not an American.

Excuse me, I don’t need to paint anyone as ‘evil’, they do it themselves. I gave a whole list of quotes from very famous feminists and they all want the same thing. They drive a Marxist agenda and want the nuclear family destroyed. Denigrating men is one of their tools. The media holds them up as the ‘face of feminism’ and so it is they who press the agenda. Women, like you, who claim to be feminist, are actively supporting the radicals, even when you say you are not. Not until women who say they are not part of that radical set start marching in the streets calling for total support for the nuclear family and for the complimentarity of men and women to be recognised, will feminism be respected.

By the way, women have been allowed to vote, drive a car and get a job since forever.

In the military there is one pay scale, not a men’s scale and a women’s scale. We all got paid the same for our rank and time in service; yet, on AVERAGE, men make more. I know men make more, on average, but men and women make the same for equal work. Why is that? Heterosexual women make choices and homosexual women don’t like the choices they make.

So I, as a heterosexual woman, choose not to be paid the same, and lesbians are the only ones who protest.

I’m sorry, but those views are outdated, judgemental, predjudiced, sexist, misogynist and totally totally factually incorrect. You should be ashamed of yourself.

That is not what I said little girl. Some day you might get married, have children, maybe even stay married to their father; then you might understand what I’m trying to tell you. In the mean time, I would suggest a math class might help your understanding of AVERAGE.

Spoken like a true radical feminist. You’ve absorbed all the terminology they taught you. You’ve got it down pat. And, to muddy the waters even more, you began your response with a gross generalisation. That really winds 'em up, eh?! Congrats. Top of the class. Germaine will be so pleased to hear of how supportive you are!

While on holiday in England, we had an English woman ask us if Americans still got married? That question had me wondering if the radicals had completely succeeded in replacing men with the government in Britain.

If what I said is not what you meant, what did you mean then?

And please don’t call me a little girl, I’m in my early twenties and in higher education. I’m also quite tall.

I also did very well in maths at school, thank you. Perhaps you should have a class in respecting women wanting equal rights.

I am sick and tired of people saying I am a “radical feminist Germaine would be proud of”. I cannot believe that what Stephen and others have said about women in this thread is deemed acceptable. I am shocked and appalled. I do not support radicals. I feel physically sick reading this thread. What have I said that is unacceptable? Why is it bad for me to be offended at what Stephen said about how “homosexuals are the only ones who complain”?

Shame on all of you. If this is what Catholic men are like, I will have none of them, I will not be ridiculed for believing women should be paid the same.

I understand that female priests are not paid as much as male priests. Job counselors need to point that fact out to prospective job applicants. Also, the hours are long, and they have to work on weekends, and have no free time for their own families.

An early welcome home, by the way, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, free nor slave, male nor female, and where there is not a lot of spare room for the excess baggage of feminism.

No, not at all. I am not a doctor yet. Give me another year. The reason that I posted the proclamations from the proceedings of the APA was too illustrate just how incompetent Dr. Nicolosi is. Do you have any idea how rare it is for a professional organization to name one of the practitioners in its field as an example of bad medical practice? The APA actually names him as an example to it members of malpractice, in its official proclamations.

Don’t take my word for it. I agree with you that I am not qualified to evaluate his competence. I think that the APA is qualified, however, as they set the professional standards for the profession. It is nearly unprecedented for them to single someone out and name him as a bad practitioner, in an official declaration.

I must ask this Elvis, are you Dr. Nicolosi posing as Elvis? Why are you such a fan of his, considering his poor reputation?
