You guys realize that the pope just said right wing Catholics have a mental illness and don’t do anything good for the church … These posts are pretty right winged…

I have to put this out there as I have been gravely concerned and this thread continues to remind me of my concerns. We have an attack going on to the Church, certainly here in the US, and possibly around the world by people who were born and raised Catholic. I believe that I could name close to 20 people that I know personally who would have participated in this rosary banned by the Bishop and who would have thought it was a great idea. These 20 people are known to me from Catholic high school and Catholic college experiences. They continue to call themselves Catholic and they seek change in the Church and believe it will happen. In Cincinnati there is a church that calls itself Catholic and recently ordained a female priest. Two sets of my old friends have divorced their husbands and taken up with SS relationships. They tell me they have found Catholic priests who say that is OK. Things are happening all around us, even by the people we sit next to in Mass, that are not part of the Truths of the faith. This thread points out one of only many, many happening around us. My point is this, we need to pray and pray and pray. God knows what is going on and He wants us to seek His guidance and help in combatting it.

Holly3278, you are correct:thumbsup:
Thank you Mountee. 🙂

Again Mountee, I agree with you. It seems that heresy is rampant in some parts of the Church. In fact, it seems that some dioceses are filled with heresy. I will not blame any single person because I do not wish to point fingers but the fact is that there are people out there who promote heresy in the Church. And the sad fact is that these people believe the Church will change her teachings on certain matters of faith and morals when the fact is that the Church has never changed her teachings on faith and morals so that they became contradictory to what they were before. The Church has explained and developed teachings but not once in the entire history of the Catholic Church has the Church changed contradicted her constant teaching which has remained essentially the same (not counting development of doctrine and further understand and explaining of it because that doesn’t change the fundamental nature of doctrine and teaching) for 2000 years. In fact, if anyone on here thinks the Church has ever in her 2000 year history begun to teach something contradictory to the Church’s earlier teaching then please point it out with valid references and we can discuss it.

The Church is “centrist” and these posts and this bishop are speaking true Church teaching, in line with Pope Francis. I think it is you who misunderstand Pope Francis and Church teaching.

To be against gay marriage is not right winged, it is center and truth.

Personally I would not call the Church centrist, right wing, or left wing. To me, the Catholic Church is just Catholic and that’s the only way I can explain it. There are some parts of Catholic teaching that leftists agree with, some that centrists agree with, and some that right wingers agree with so I just don’t think the Church can fit into a neat little political label as concerns her beliefs.

My point was that the Church always gives us the view in which we should follow, neither right nor left; She is centrist.

Abortion being intrinsically evil is the centrist view and our views must be calibrated from that. Immigration should be open, no one but God has a right to reject the Mexican population from making a better life for their families in America; that is the centrist view. BTW, I am not mentioning these two hot button items to stir debate on these topics, simply showing examples.

There are many other topics we can discuss, but those two give a wide range of the American political spectrum and our views must be calibrated by Mother Church.

Again, my point was to show that the world, or country is not our standard to show what is right or left, the Church is. At times when we find ourselves at odds with Mother Church it is not the Church that is right or left, it is us. Furthermore it is not the Church which needs adjustment, but us.

I forgot to mention, contact your local Catholic university or whatever avenue your local diocese uses for adult education and look for a “systematic theology” course; this is where this topic is taught. It was quite enlightening for us when we had this course in formation.

Hello,

You don’t actually think that the Pope said that, do you? If you do, please go back and re-read what he said in that homily about “Christian ideology.”

Oh ok… We’ll stop right now then since you put it that way. 😃

When I first read the title of this thread, I thought to myself that there was nothing wrong with praying the rosary. God hears and answers all of our prayers but not always in the way that we would like him to answer. After reading the article I have a better understanding of the bishop’s decision. When we pray, our petitions should always be in accordance with God’s will. But this group “* said it intended to show a “loud Catholic presence for marriage equality” in Illinois’ capital after a rally in support of Senate Bill 10. The proposed state legislation would recognize same-sex unions as civil marriages*.Read more: ncregister.com/daily-news/bishop-bans-blasphemous-rosary-for-same-sex-marriage-from-cathedral/#ixzz2ikV0lmnh

The intention of this group, it seems, was not to ask for something according to God’s will, but to use (abuse) the traditional Catholic prayer of the rosary as a means of trying to show a Catholic support of their own will being done. And this is what the bishop is referring to as blasphemous. *“It is blasphemy to show disrespect or irreverence to God or to something holy,” Bishop Paprocki said."

I’d be too afraid to do something like that. It’s just sinful. :o

So which of the eight people posting do you consider mentally ill? Those agreeing with the Church and the Bishop?

And when did blasphemy become a part of the political label of left-wing and right wing, or even center?

And what did the Pope actually say? I ask because your understanding of what he said differs from mine.

These attacks on the Church by the homosexuals & attacks by the Obama admin. against religious liberty are all related. The RC Church is a problem they want silenced &/or eliminated.
Lifesite news reported:

On Friday, October 11th, during a meeting at the Catholic St. Michael’s College in Brussels, four topless Femen activists stormed the stage wrapped in the rainbow flag, the symbol of the homosexualist movement, disrupting a lecture and throwing a pie in the archbishop’s face.

The bare-breasted women also accosted the speaker, French politician and leader of the French Christian Democratic Party Christine Boutin, who is known for her vocal opposition to legally recognised same-sex unions,

Femen, a radical leftwing feminist-anarchist protest organisation, has repeatedly targeted Archbishop Leonard for his outspoken opposition to the homosexualist movement’s goals.

In April, the group broke in on a lecture the archbishop was giving at the ULB University in Brussels during a public debate on blasphemy laws.

As the topless women doused him with water and screamed pro-homosexual slogans, Archbishop Leonard sat praying silently. After the ordeal, the archbishop kissed the image of the Virgin Mary on one of the water bottles that was used in the attack

I don’t suppose we’ll see them at a mosque anytime soon…

Thanks be to God good bishop!

Why aren’t these fanatics going into mosques and temples trying to take over!
That would be racist, anti-Semitic and/or islamophobic.

And they could risking a fatwa that would make them have to go into hiding.

You guys realize that the pope just said right wing Catholics have a mental illness and don’t do anything good for the church .
No, because he didn’t say that.

And in the USA right-wingers give 4x as much to charity than liberals despite making less income.

I am speechless with amazement.
Gays coming into a cathedral to pray the rosary for the advancement of gay sex?
Something madmen would do.
Yeah, I’ll have to admit that this is pretty much blasphemous as Bishop Paprocki points out. But just as outrageous and blasphemous in my opinion, were those democrats praying for abortion rights…talk about speechless with amazement!
“We give thanks, oh Lord, for the doctors, both current and future, who provide quality abortion care.”
“We pray for increased financial support for low-income women to access contraception, abortion and childcare.”
“Today, we pray for women in developing nations, that they may know the power of self-determination. May they have access to employment, education, birth control and abortion.”
“Today we pray for the families who have chosen. May they know the blessing of choice.”
