Rumors Can Be Misleading
By Bishop Matthew Clark, Diocese of Rochester, NY

Some years ago – at least 10, I think – two of our diocesan priests told me that they are homosexual. They came in separately and, as far as I know, neither of them was aware of the other’s visit. I do recall that each said his decision to come out to me was prompted, at least in part, by something I had written in “Along the Way.”

It seems to me that Bishop Matthew Clark is denying the existing Church policy that homosexual men should not be encouraged to be priests.
He is inviting ‘gay’ men to the priesthood in this quote from the posted article.
I hope that these comments will be helpful to:
  • homosexual priests who spend themselves each day in faithful, loving ministry to God’s holy people. We deeply value your ministry.
*** to gay young men who are considering a vocation to priesthood. We try to treat all inquiries fairly. You will be no exception.**
  • to all who may have been confused or misled by premature and narrow reporting of the visitation and rumored document. It is always better to deal with fact than with rumor and half-truths.

  1. Critically important as it is, we should remember that formation for a life of celibacy is not the only, or even the primary, issue here. The task of seminaries is much wider than that. Their task is to form candidates toward intellectual, emotional, psychosexual, spiritual and pastoral maturity, regardless of the sexual orientation of the candidate.
I think this is the key paragraph. And I hope the new instruction, which has been the subject of so much speculation, will embrace this spirit.

Guar Fan,

I would believe you if it were not for this quote from Bishop Clark
I have thought about and prayed for these men because I know that two recent developments have caused them a lot of pain. One is the Vatican-sponsored Seminary Visitation program now in progress. The other is a long-rumored document from the Congregation for Catholic Education about the admission of gay men as candidates for the priesthood.
Bishop Clark throws the
Vatican-sponsored Seminary Visitation program
into the pot too. Somebody seems agitated…and it ain’t me.😃

Heaven knows we all need the
Vatican-sponsored Seminary Visitation program
…so why would a Bishop feel that he needs to appease any homosexual priests about this matter…publicly…no less.

In other words, he (the Bishop) doesn’t care what the Vatican or the upcoming document says, he’s going to keep doing whatever he wants to. No wonder we’re in such a mess.

His dioscese is one whole mess. There is something coming up about him every month regarding liturgucal abuses, having pro-abort speakers, etc.

It appears that he does not care much for the “Vatican-sponsored Seminary Visitation program” either.

My guess is that these two things - a possible document banning homosexuals from entering the priesthood and the Seminary Visitation program must be ruffling more than a few feathers in this diocese. My :twocents:

How much longer will the faithful in the Diocese of Rochester suffer under this leadership? Gentle Jesus, have mercy on us.

A preemptive strike by Bishop Clark: (from the article)

These comments are not helpful Bishop Clark. You are leading your flock astray and casting Catholic families to the wolves.

Fr. Mychal Judge, OFM, the NYC Fire Department Chaplain, who died at the World Trade Center attending to the dying there, and who was honored by being Victim # 00001, the first official fatality of the attack, was not only a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, he was also a chaste homosexual. Who would not value his ministry and his ministry over the years that he was an official Chaplain? Who would hold his homosexuality against him?

False Portrayal of 9/11 Hero Priest as “Gay” Blasted
The Concerned Women for America posted an editorial, written by Dennis Lynch, that details the attempts, and seeming success, of homosexual activists to portray Fr. Judge as a “gay priest”. Mr. Lynch detailed the life and death of Fr. Mike, a Franciscan priest who died ministering to the victims in the twin towers of New York. Lynch goes on to say that “Prior to Fr. Mike’s death, everyone who knew him for any length of time would never describe him as a homosexual.”

Did anyone need to know that he was homosexual for him to be honored for his ministry? Why would anyone know that he was homosexual if he was chaste? What did him being homosexual have to do with all of the good things that he did?

The homosexual “gay” subculture in the priesthood has done heinous damage to the church in America and we are still paying the price for it in upteen lost souls, violated children, and the tythes of the elderly up in smoke.

If you talk to a “gay” activist, you would think 25% of the population is homosexual.

Premptive strike. Strategy from the Vatican II days. Hard to let go. Will go down swinging. The problem is they will connect with some souls on the way down.

The faithful in the diocese should stop giving to the diocese until change occurs.
