Well, let’s go directly to the source, shall we? Of course you can still refuse to use reading and basic analytic abilities, but the John Jay Report itself in Tables 3.5.4 and 4.3.2 show the raw numbers, disproving your claim.

From Table 3.5.4 on Page 53

Table 4.3.2 on Page 70 is interesting as it breaks it further down by victim’s age.

81% of the victims were male. Of the male victims, 15% were 10 years old and younger, 51% were between the ages of 11 and 14, and 34% were between the ages of 15 and 17 years.

He didn’t say they shouldn’t acknowledge their sin. He didn’t say they need to, but that isn’t the same. It’s a subtle but important difference.

Why is it necessary to bring up their sin every single time?

Do you think they don’t know the church position? Do you think there is any confusion?

There is more confusion amongst conservative/orthodox Catholics (I say that as one ) about how to treat gays than there is amongst liberal Catholics (and non-Catholics) about what the Church teaches on the morality of homosexual activity. They know the church teaches it is a sin. They might not like it and they might not agree with it, but they know the teaching.

Well, we call Pau “Saint Paul” even though he was the chief of all sinners. All people everywhere are capable of holiness even as they are capable of sin. In theory, any and all of us still possess the capacity for both love and holiness, just as we are capable of sin and depravity.

When statements like this are posted, why is it always this part that is bolded. Bishop Lynch ends with, “even as God’s creative designs for and the church’s sacramental understanding of marriage are affirmed.” Affirmation of orthodoxy should be applauded.

I believe the reason that these comments are embolded is because they are pertinent…when are we going to quit pussyfooting around with flowery words regarding this nonsense…it’s as though certain Bishops are trying almost to be politically correct…for gosh sakes…isn’t all about sex…ofcourse there is that hand holding stuff…but after all…are we to believe that the majority of these individuals…just like the rainbow crowd at St Francis Xaiver Catholic Church in Manhattan (google the re-dedication), are not engaging in ongoing sexual relations with their partners…these people aren’t members of courage…they are giving the impression that they are accepted and living the lifestyle…when Bishops dabble around with fancy verbage…it doesn’t change anything…then ending the remark with …but the teaching of the Church is…come on…speak the truth…there is nothing new on planet earth…this stuff has been going on forever…now I;m supposed to applaud these relationships…all right…I’m sure there are those of you out there that can’t wait to let me have it…I love you…just try to live chaste lives…celebant…individuals with opposite sex attraction do…take a philosophy class on the matter…regarding ‘doing what feels good’…and where that concept plays in with Church teachings…the jury is ‘out’ for me with this entire homosexual matter until the upcoming Synod…if the Church ‘dances’ around with the Sacraments any more than they have since V-2 i.e. ‘how’ and to whom they are administered…in addition to hanging rainbow flags in Catholic Churches which is happening…I find the big screens hanging over the altar appaling at best…and although I try to remain loving in my little editorial I pray I haven’t over stepped…but some things should be just ‘cut and dry’…and we need Bishops to not use ambiguous statements when addressing these matters…tks…

Eyes straight ahead with hands uplifted, keeping our own hearts from faltering by knowing full well Christ sees and knows all, and somehow faith is not only retained and His Church still fully visible, but a desire for cleansing and purity comes upon those whose hearts are being tested, and we begin to understand these times are necessary. So we keep our peace by trusting and praying and waiting upon the Lord.

The problem is that there are many who want to claim that this particular sin is not even a sin.

We all sin, but we don’t all claim that our individual vices are not sins.

This is true, but we do claim some are. I would say the more easily we succumb to a sin, the more likely we are to claim it is not a sin. Sexual sin of all sort is passed as healthy activity. Alcoholism is blamed on genetics. Even people who are perpetually angry may take a pride in their anger. And of course pride, that chief of sins, to many is expressed in Sinatra’s “I Did It My Way”.
