Bishop of Bridgeport Prepares "for the Worst"

Next month, the U.S. Supreme Court is supposed to decide if court documents containing the names of the priests involved in 23 sex abuse cases in the Diocese of Bridgeport, CT are to be made public. Bishop Lori is seeking to keep the case files sealed in order to prevent bad publicity for the Church over the actual sexual activity of the suspected priests and to prevent revealling how much diocesan money went to pay their legal fees.

One of the first moral lessons my parents taught me (and which I learned only imperfectly) is that “actions have consequences.” And this is ongoing living proof.

According to this article, the reason the Bishop given is the desire to protect the priests who were WRONGLY accused but were included in these documents. What information do you have for your contrary assertion? Do you no believe the innocent deserve protection?
