Bishop of Phoenix creates new norms for the reception of Holy Communion

Bishop Olmstead of the Phoenix Diocese is a good and faithful Bishop.
Those in the Phoenix Diocese should be greatful to have him. :highprayer:
 
I believe this reversal is a good decision. Good for the Bishop.
 
I don’t see this as a reversal at all.

vi. The role of the Priest and Deacon as the ordinary ministers of Holy Communion is not obscured by an excessive use of extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion; the bond between the ministerial priesthood and the Eucharist is clearly manifest.6

I see this as prohibiting reception under both species in any parish. I am not in Phoenix, but we have one priest and 10 EMHC at most Masses, with the EMHCs lined up in the foyer greeting people before Mass… Definitely obscures the roles, no?
 
I think the norms he issued are very sensible for the most part.

There is a condition stated:

*Conditions for the use of Holy Communion under both kinds:
i. The faithful present at Mass are properly catechized and continually receive catechesis regarding the dogmatic principles on the matter laid down by the Ecumenical Council of Trent. *

I am not sure if the people in the pew, including myself, meet that condition
