Correct. As I said in my post, the parable doesn’t match the reality of the Democrat or Republican parties. It was a poor choice of parables to get your point across.
My point, my choice. That is EXACTLY how I see it.

No, it is my choice to apply the parable regardless of the color of YOUR reality glasses.
The great “insult them to win them over” strategy lives on, I see…is there a biblical reference for that? :crying: 😛

You’ve found a reference?

It seems we have reached the point in the debate when you feel no further need to contribute to the discussion at hand…In that case, are you just enjoying my company?

I always enjoy your company, seekerz. You are entertaining.

Back to the topic: for those who see abortion legislation as the deciding factor in voting, how exactly do you see such legislation working? I mean, in a practical sense. Say, abortion is outlawed in your state. How do you envisage the law being put into practice?

For example, a young woman walking into a regular office staffed by former abortion clinic providers and states: "my periods have been very irregular and I just don’t want to entertain the idea of a kid right now, can you give me something to make me regular? The doctor orders a pregnancy test, saying: “let’s just make sure you’re not pregnant first”…At what point does something happen that allows the doctor decide that it’s okay to “restore her periods”: the point of providing a sample, the point of testing the sample, the point of recording the result accurately or…all of the above? And yes, it is multiple choice. It is also indicative of why the pro-life campaign must necessarily be focused on the actual decision-makers surrounding abortion.

That’s the topic? Looks at title and OP…nope.

Topic:

Dear Catholic Believers,

Since the foundation of the American Republic and the adoption of the Bill of Rights, I do not think there has ever been a time more threatening to our religious liberty than the present. Neither the president of the United States nor the current majority of the Federal Senate have been willing to even consider the Catholic community’s grave objections to those HHS mandates that would require all Catholic institutions, exempting only our church buildings, to fund abortion, sterilization, and artificial contraception. This assault upon our religious freedom is simply without precedent in the American political and legal system. Contrary to the guarantees embedded in the First Amendment, the HHS mandates attempt to now narrowly define and thereby drastically limit our traditional religious works. They grossly and intentionally intrude upon the deeply held moral convictions that have always guided our Catholic schools, hospitals, and other apostolic ministries.

Nearly two thousand years ago, after our Savior had been bound, beaten, scourged, mocked, and crowned with thorns, a pagan Roman Procurator displayed Jesus to a hostile crowd by sarcastically declaring: “Behold your King.” The mob roared back: “We have no king but Caesar.” Today, Catholic politicians, bureaucrats, and their electoral supporters who callously enable the destruction of innocent human life in the womb also thereby reject Jesus as their Lord. They are objectively guilty of grave sin. For those who hope for salvation, no political loyalty can ever take precedence over loyalty to the Lord Jesus Christ and to his Gospel of Life. God is not mocked, and as the Bible clearly teaches, after this passing instant of life on earth, God’s great mercy in time will give way to God’s perfect judgment in eternity.

I therefore call upon every practicing Catholic in this Diocese to vote. Be faithful to Christ and to your Catholic Faith. May God guide and protect His Holy Church, and may God bless America.

Most Reverend Daniel R. Jenky, CSC
Catholic Bishop of Peoria

The taking of innocent human life in the womb is not discussed in the letter? If that is true, my bad.
Sort of. Specifically, more time is spent on the HHS mandate, but there is this:

Seems pretty clear to me. The current legislation enables the destruction of innocent human life, but you seem opposed to overturning such legislation and/or enacting legislation to ban abortion, which puts you at odds with the Bishop. I guess you can twist it into a discussion about the efficacy of legislation, but that doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the Bishop’s letter.

Oh, supporting the legislation doesn’t twist anything but questioning its efficacy does? Tell me, what is the point of legislation other than to be effective at doing what it was crafted to do?

You have to forgive me but I happen to prize action and efficacy very highly - waaay above words alone, printed or spoken. That means for example, that fallible as I am, I would not be tempted to think I could fool God by pretending to be able to do things I really couldn’t.

The government would start making laws mandating that probes be inserted into a woman’s vagina against her will - oh, that’s already happened.

Your theory has resulted in genocide. But again…it is your conscience…you can vote for the abortion president if you like.
My theory has resulted in nothing, because in this country it remains largely a theory. The same applies to yours.

Thinking like yours has resulted in 55 million dead babies and 1500 per day. It is time to overturn Roe v Wade.

Romney is the best chance to appoint pro-life justices.

But again, you have free will to vote for the abortion guy.

Ridiculous and sad. You and seekerz go to extreme lengths to oppose abortion laws.

Obama is going 75 mph taking America to perdition; Romney will take us to perdition at only 50 mph. 🤷
