Here we go again. Read the Catechism of the Catholic Church once in a while. There are non-negotiable evils like abortion, and there are prudential matters like how we should take care of the poor.
Its also not as partisan as some would like it to be. The reality is that neither candidate is a shining beacon of Catholic doctrine which means that neither should be considered if that is the standard. Of course, some republican inevitably throws a bone out about their personal views on abortion even though theres zip they can do about it and suddenly people start bludgeoning everyone else with a catechism. It doesn’t translate into an obligation to vote for Romney.It’s not like this is a big secret. It’s not like we haven’t had this information in the CCC in the hands of just about every single Catholic in the entire country for 15 whole years.
We’re not looking for shining beacons. We’re not looking for Obama either, not after the HHS mandate. The Catholic Church was double-crossed, stabbed in the back in public and I hope Catholics never forget it.

I don’t think its productive or necessary to question the religious convictions of others. The Church wants people to vote according to their conscience and just because their choice may not be the same as yours or mine doesn’t make it any less valid.

I’m not interested in seeing God reduced to a political football. As far as the Republican platform is concerned; I’m reminded of a verse regarding hypocrites sounding trumpets.
They booed the fact the wording had been changed without the majority required.
They booed God. There is video. The Democrat party can’t get away with this barn waste anymore. They’re too loud and we’re on to them.
They booed the fact that the language was changed even though it was quite clear that the majority did not support it. I don’t care if a political platform has the word “God” in it or not. Like I said, hypocrites and trumpets.
The secular left reared its head at the DNC. They showed that they, not the traditional Democrats of yesterday who believed in traditional values, are in control of the party.
No, the church wants people to vote in defense of the objective truth, according to their well formed consciences.

They’re MUCH better on social, economic, and foreign policy issues than the Republicans. They’re certainly far closer to Catholic teaching on those issues.
I think you’re confusing behaving aggressively while in a state of war and aggressively causing war. Two very different things. The Just War doctrine is quite clear and Romney’s views are incompatible with it. Then of course we have Ryan’s remarks on their views of humanitarian aid; completely inconsistent with Catholic teaching.
