Good point.

It doesn’t look like too many people are happy to see this priest go. Sounds like there are some pretty upset parishioners.
Maybe they were all there to show him an outpouring of love and support.

Yes, I believe they were and I would have too if I could have.

I don’t know if I would call it “obedient” to write this on his personal Facebook page.

While he may have the “right” to do so, I am not sure if it was prudent.
Bishops (especially Apostolic Administrators) have to walk a very fine line.
I would think it would behoove a priest to just “tow the line” until a new Ordinary is named.

The Saginaw diocese is not falling into the abyss.

That happened several decades ago.

Oh, I wasn’t claiming that posting on Facebook was an example of his obedience – it’s what he said in his FB message that demonstrates obedience:
At the same time, out of complete respect for the ecclesiastical authority currently governing our Diocese, Bishop Hurley the Apostolic Administrator, I cannot comment on the decisions taken, nor on any private conversations held between His Excellency and me.

This is an example that the priestly vow of obedience, though difficult at times, is a firm reminder that the Church is not a democracy…
