Thanks for that (name removed by moderator)ut. I know that talk such as this usually stems from truth. It’s just so hard to know how to feel about some comments when you don’t know how they were originally intended.Bishop Untener gave a homily years ago in which he talked about taking a course in sensitivity. He said he came to realize that not ordaining women hurt not only those women who felt called to the priesthood, but that denying ordination to women hurt every woman. I was present when this homily was given.
It was pretty common knowlege in this diocese as to what Bishop Untener’s views were regarding female ordination.
One could see his point if they wanted too. I think that such radical ideas push people weak in faith farther from the Church though. To say that every woman is hurt by denying ordination is a bit much. It sound’s to me like women who want to be Nuns just aren’t applying themselves hard enough. I also think it’s a beautiful thing to see a person who is happy to be where they are, like a nun who is happy to be a nun serving God not trying to “elevate herself”.
My two cents.
