Come on now…I’ve basically been told I grew up in a diocese of unmitigated liturgical corruption…I’ve been told that my ‘team lost’…I’ve been given the impression that it was God’s will that a man get cancer so that his grace could send a ‘true shepherd’.

And my entire education up to this point has been knocked as inadequate.

I think it is equally provocative to throw around high minded phrases about salvation and grace that have nothing to do with the dialogue at hand.

That is a despicable play on emotions. No one here said it, inferred, hinted at it, or thought it. That is your own spin. It’s posts like these that cause people to dismiss you.

I still haven’t figured out any other way that you can spin a comment like “your team lost”.

Frankly, I know I’m in the minority on all of this…and if people would stop trying to convert me, we might be able to have a logical conversation.
 
The topic of this thread is Bishop Carlson, who is located far, far away from Irondale, Alabama. Suggest you folks stop bickering and get back on topic.

I come to this post to hear how things are going in Saginaw for Bishop Carlson. It is important to know what is going on and what people think, but We have been warned something like 5 times regarding our uncharitableness.

agreed, ekindermann. I think if we are able to have a healthy discussion of what we see/hear in Saginaw and can say our opinion without a fear of refute or oppostion, that would be good. I would like to see a world where Bknebel (thats me!) can voice his opinion about tabernacles on a high altar in the center of the sanctuary and latin at Mass, and how he sees that as a posititve and an absolute, and other folks can show their support for the inclusive language and nuns preaching.
 
The Bishop’s letter on the implementation of the GIRM is about to arrive in our mail boxes.

I have decided that I am going to obey the bishop no matter how close or how far from the GIRM he decides to place his diocese.

To me, the value of being Catholic, is deeply connected to obedience and herein lies the freedom that cannot be described to the secular world.

I look forward to hearing about your decisions to obey or not to obey.

What that would be in this letter could possibly be surprising? Other than perhaps a final date for implementation.

I guess I shouldn’t ask questions like that…I know people who are from “orthodox” dioceses who are still convinced that the bow before receiving communion is another Saginaw liberal innovation.

Is it possible for you to post without including an insult? You could have stopped at the first sentence and that would have been fine - but you always seem to feel the need to push. Is it really necessary?
 
FromMi- the bow before Communion is a required I thought? I thought we were all supposed to? I didn’t know it would’ve been a liberal innovation in any form?

It is required…but in some places the cathecesis on it has been a little lacking…

So, as I said…some people were whining about it being another “Saginaw innovation”.
 
understandable… i never thought of it as that! but- there are those i’m sure.

I just hope Bishop can get it across to people that he’s there to love them- and steer them where it is the church and the Holy Father ask them to be. And that its always for the good.

Interestingly, this seems to be the very same MO of the Holy Father himself (see Deus Caritas Est)!
