Good article. The recent signs from Spain and France (both of which were historically Catholic) are certainly encouraging. 🙂
 
I agree. Europe has abandoned the death penalty. They also are making it clear, that it’s products will not be used in state execution, thereby not passively condoning this egregious sin or participating in it. European countries including Great Britain will not extradite criminals back to the US without a guarantee that they will not be subject to the death penalty.

European countries rank below the US, [but not Eurasian Russia] in abortion. I am guessing here, but I would think that most European countries have a better human rights record than the US.

The American 2012 election results were not encouraging.
 
One would think that the demographic collapse in Europe would be alarming to anyone.
 
I hope he’s right, but there’s been no movement on the most fundamental measure of how badly a culture has sunken into the culture of death. Europeans of European ancestry still have a total fertility rate of about 1.6 and have had now for decades. About the same as Americans of European ancestry, btw.

If held steady, that’s a trend that will chop those populations in half in about 140 years. The longer the trend holds, the harder it is to reverse too. Good luck deciding to have 3 kids when you’re responsible for the welfare of your elderly parents and your wife’s elderly parents too! (And btw the state is broke and had to discontinue all aid programs)
 
I wonder how much of this is due to an influx of Muslim immigrants? Theoretically they should be contributing to some of this trend.

Fun fact: The most popular baby name in England (not just a fluke year, but a couple now) isn’t Harry, or Charles or William… it’s Muhammad (if you count all the various spellings together).

Not sure where you got that from (can only guess Daily Mail) but its not even in the top 10

A lot of countries in Europe and some in Asia are facing demographic collapse. Japan being one.

India and China in the near future due to the killing of baby girls.

I wonder though if they can recover.

Note that if you count the Muhammed spelling variations separately, the number drops off drastically. But if you consider them all together as variations on the same intent, it seems to come out tops.

It didn’t actually take me long to find substantiation. Why not try it yourself next time before attacking?

Of course what CNN (and the Daily Mail) neglected to do was add up all the similar sounding “English” names like Charles and Charlie etc because of course that doesn’t serve their cause. But 7139 total Mohammads (the total went down in 2012) represents less than 1% of the total of live births in England and Wales (Total 729,674 boys and girls) and perhaps 2% of total males. So it seems that even among the 4.6% of Muslims (enormous isn’t it!) in England and Wales, the name is not that popular.
 
Good point, maybe. Is it supposition or are you aware of actual people naming their kids “Charlie” on the birth certificate? Perhaps a better example would be adding together the Harrys and the Harolds? I’m not sure that’s precisely the same thing as Muhammad, Muhammed and Mohammad being counted the same though.

But very good point on the total being circa 1%.
 
Pray God this trend continues. I hate sounding like a broken record, but we have to get really solid catechesis about contraception circulating. That issue is cut from the same cloth as abortion and the confusion over marriage. The lack of Christian unity on the issue breaks my heart as it continues to hinder progress.
