This is the same Bishop that approached ( now ex-representative) Patrick Kennedy last year and reportedly has told newly-elected governor Lincoln Chaffee to remember that he only won by 36% of the vote.

What a Bishop!

The bill for gay marriage in RI is scheduled to start in hearings February 2nd.

Maryland also has a gay marriage bill pending.

And Kennedy was replaced by the voters with a pro-gay marriage, pro-choice democrat.

and reportedly has told newly-elected governor Lincoln Chaffee to remember that he only won by 36% of the vote.

If the pro-life candidate (who came in 2nd) had won, would Tobin have cautioned him about pushing a pro-life agenda with only 37% of the vote? How much the guy won by is irrelevant, he won. What’s important are the moral issues not vote percentages.

What a Bishop!

He’s definitely vocal, but the Catholic voters of RI haven’t really been listening.

The bill for gay marriage in RI is scheduled to start in hearings February 2nd.

It’ll be interesting what happens with RI’s gay marriage bill. RI has had a public hearing on this issue practically every year, its quite the circus to see on the evening news. In previous years the governor was threatened veto and since there weren’t veto-proof margins the bills never left committee. But this year could be different, it’ll definitely be interesting to see what an actual floor vote looks like on this issue in RI.
