Bishop wants us to stand after agnus dei?

I attended a different church than I normally do this weekend. I nothiced that everyone reamained standing after the Agnus Dei? I call the priest and he said that’s how the Bishiop (Diocese of Orlando) wants it to be done. So are all the other churches in the area ignoring him. Why would he want us to stand? I have to churches all over the country and this has never been done. I know the bishop has the power to ask us to do this, but why do you think he wants us to stand?
 
actually it only became the norm in the US to kneel after the Agnus Dei by indult in concession to long standing custom, the rest of the world does not kneel.
 
I got to attend mass in LA at the beautiful new Cathedral, and they stand there also.
 
Do you believe that in time Tridentine masses will become more prevalent?

I don’t know where you attended but we stand in my Orlando parish as well. I was a “kneeler” before moving. I was also introduced to “hand holding” here as well.

Because it makes sense. At least it does to me.
 
I don’t live in Orlando, but I am in the diocese of Orlando. We kneel. I like kneeling then, but will stand if I’m ever told we’re supposed to. My in-laws are in the Cleveland diocese. They stand.

And it doesn’t to me. I want to be in a prayerful attitude as people are receiving the Eucharist and coming back to do some personal praying in thanks for who and what they have just received. When people are standing their eyes and minds tend to wander, in my experience.
 
My family is from California and I actually just was recently out in LA-quite an intresting auditorium–I mean–Cathedral
 
Im in seattle and we stand, but my home parish down south has an exception given by the bishop to allow kneeling.
 
We no longer kneel after the Agnus Dei in the Diocese of Orange. Our bishop made these changes about two or three years ago. We can still kneel if we would like but it is not the norm.

There are a couple parishes that I know of where they don’t kneel at all. They have no kneelers. I know there are quite a few churches in the Los Angeles diocese that do not have kneelers or they took the kneelers out.

I wonder if our new Cathedral will have kneelers?

We kneel in the UK.
 
The bishop has the right to do this because the universal norm is standing after the Agnus Dei until one receives communion then at their pew they can choose their posture of prayer for reflection. Any permission given outside the norm does not have to be followed by a local bishop because strictly speaking the Bishops Conference and their desires are not binding upon a local Bishop in his See (with some exceptions noted in Canon Law). In anycase, in this particular instance the Bishop can go either way and both ways are correct.
