English and Welsh bishops are hoping to establish evangelisation teams to transform 5,000 churches into “missionary parishes”.
Cardinal Vincent Nichols of Westminster, president of the bishops’ conference, said there would be no place for proselytising, “door-stepping” or “cold calling” in an attempt to win converts.
“Proselytising is a one-way street,” Cardinal Nichols told a press conference. “It is saying, ‘I have got something you must have, and I’m going to make you receive it whether you like it or not.’ Evangelisation is essentially an invitation, and it is an invitation which will draw people closer together in their humanity, in their human experience.

Oh yes catholic door stepping is such a widespread epidemic that it must be addressed. You can’t live 2 weeks in the suburbs without meeting some overzealous catholic protselitzer knocking on your door. Its not like anyone stops attending church because they feel anonymous, invisible or unwanted and not part of the community, never. We’ll just talk about new evangelization without doing anything about it and just let Africa take care of that.

This is hilarious. Almost every phrase in the article has a corresponding entry in The Simple Sabotage Manual (quotes in italics).
The invitation to parishes to set up the teams was made formally at the National Catholic Evangelisation Conference in Birmingham on Saturday.
*When possible, refer all matters to committees for “further study and consideration”. *
Some 850 delegates from English and Welsh dioceses
*Attempt to make the committees as large as possible – never less than five. *

Hold conferences when there is more critical work to be done
focusing on the questions of how to create a vision and strategy for parish evangelisation
Synergy. You are missing synergy. You must have synergy! And teamwork.
Speeches, interviews and testimonies from the event
*Make “speeches”. Talk as frequently as possible and at great length. Illustrate your points by long anecdotes and accounts of personal experiences. *
will be collected into an online “legacy document”
Haggle over precise wordings of communications, minutes, resolutions
which will be made available to the evangelisation teams in September
*Do everything possible to delay the delivery of orders. Even though parts of an order may be ready beforehand, don’t deliver it until it is completely ready. *
Auxiliary Bishop Nicholas Hudson of Westminster, who was responsible for the evangelisation conference, said he expected the process to “surprise us” by

unlocking huge potential for the growth of the Church.
In the emerging markets. The best growth potential is always in the emerging markets.
“We envisage every parish coming together and beginning to access what is available online, coming together … for a series of evenings when they sit down and look at one of the videos
So we will sit down, watch a video, and then go for a dinner? Works for me. Where do I sign up?
and see what it says to them about their evangelisation initiative in the parish.”
Be worried about the propriety of any decision - raise the question of whether such action as is contemplated is within the jurisdiction of the group or whether it might conflict with the policy of some higher echelon.

The LDS missionaries have been circulating through neighborhoods for decades as have the JW folks. How successful have they been I wonder?

We are hoping to prepare ourselves the best we can to succesfully answer Our Blessed Lord unambigous order: “go therefore and make disciples of all nations” without doubt the one and only plan that can not only stop the Church’s exanguinating further. But place it in the path of growth aiming to bring entire humanity to Salvation. The reason for the Encarnation and the porpuse of the Redempsion
Any advice based on an strategy that has been proved effective will be cordially appreciated
