The bishops discussed the possibility of restoring two of the three Holy Days of Obligation, which were transferred to Sundays in 2006, at their first plenary meeting of the year.
They will spend the next six months in their dioceses “reflecting” about whether to celebrate the Holy Days on their customary days.

That does sound cool. I personally wish that there were more Holy Days of Obligation here in the United States. I’d like to see people come to Mass more often.
 
I too find it very frustrating that Holy Days are not obligatory here in the US and on top of that, some are moved around (Ascension).

The biggest threat to the Church is our culture, and yet it seems that at so many turns we play right into culture’s hand.

England and Wales are really reforming the reform, it will be interesting to see if the US follows suit.
 
I think the Church has done us a grave disservice in rescinding Ascension Thursday as a holyday. It is an article of our faith and the non-celebration of it severs the natural flow from the Resurrection, to the Ascension and finally the coming of the Holy Spirit and birth of the Church on Pentecost Sunday. I’ve never understood how they could have done such a thing.
 
Ascension is already a Holy Day. In fact, its next week! My diocese does not change the date to Sunday. Ascension Thursday IS a Thursday with the option to attend vigil Mass.

Epiphany is celebrated on a Sunday so its easier to get to Mass. I know its also listed on the Calendar as January 6th (is that right?) Sometimes that day may land on a Sunday, but most of the time it doesn’t,

aaahhhh,I’d almost move to Nebraska just to have the privilege of being under your good bishop, Bruskewitz, who is truly a champion of the faith. He is one of God’s stars!
 
Great news
I believe holy days of obligation during the week are a good tool for spreading the faith.
Telling your boss that you have to book the day off because it is a holy day a witness to your work mates.👍
