The document rightly appeals to the unity of the Church and unity of the Faith. The “Dubia” looked only at the document AL, in light of earlier documents. Some people might argue the 4 cardinals were jumping the gun, so to speak, projecting misinterpretations that ****might ****happen.
This document looks both at the document itself, and the responses since the document was issued. Some responses are alleged to be in contradiction to Church teaching and practice, and without a doubt, some responses - not hypothetical, but actually observed - put parts of the Church in opposition to other parts of the Church.
The Vatican might choose not to respond to the Dubia, on the grounds the Pope’s assistants already, surely proofread AL before it was issued. This new “appeal” is different, in that it takes into account the events of the last several months, ******after ******AL was issued.
