In actions to fight state efforts to legalize same-sex marriage during 2010, the U.S. bishops reiterated the church’s teaching on the sanctity of marriage, made their Ad Hoc Committee for the Defense of Marriage a permanent subcommittee and distributed materials explaining the Catholic view of traditional marriage.

Good job !

Sadly though, people don’t realize what they have until it is taken from them. Hence Faith is an obstacle to the world. I hope the Faith of America will overcome and defeat this perversion.

You don’t realize how intrinsically wrong gay “marriage” is until you see it. When I lived in Toronto, across the street was a “married” gay couple. Their spats, fits and general behaviour were not only somehow embarassing to me, personally, as a man, but you got the sense that they were somehow actively trying to make a mockery of marriage, whether they realized it or not. They could only pretend to be married, which gives rise to an air of childishness, and a prevailing sense of immaturity.

Pax,
Tim

I am glad that the Bishops have stood up against gay “marriage”. There is no such thing as a marriage between two people of the same sex, plain and simple.

I am glad that the bishops have taken this stance. Now the rest of us must do likewise.

The law of unintended consequences will play itself out with DADT in the months and years ahead. These consequences to society will pale in comparisson to what would occur should “Gay Marriage” be approved.

As a society, there is no benefit to the society in approving same sex unions. I can argue strongly that it is in societies best interest to protect the sanctity of traditional marriage and the family. Besides the usual “…its not fair” arguments that supporters of same sex marriage bring up I have no interest in protecting their relationship.

I think the repeal of DADT is a back door :o way of forcing not only homosexuality upon the military but also same sex unions and homosexual marriage. Both are evil and when they involve children do violence. The moral fabric of our country is being unraveled before our eyes. Once they redefine marriage I expect the family unit to rapidly deteriorate.

Does a single unhappily married gay couple automatically mean that all gay marriage is wrong? If it had been an unhappily married straight couple opposite you, would that mean straight marriage was wrong? I’ve known of both unhappily and happily married couples of both straight and gay couples.

What violence does homosexual marriage do to children?

When I was in the military the prohibition of active homosexuals was justified as a matter of security since homosexuals (and others suffering from paraphilia) are vulnerable to blackmail.

The Wikileaks source is openly homosexual member of the military.

Mass media trumpets the zeitgeist and has it’s head in the sand to the realities of homosexual behavior.

Once DADT is repealed and homosexuals can serve openly, there will be no blackmail pressure since revealing that someone is gay will not mean that they will lose their job.

The Wikileaks source is homosexual, but many leakers and spies have been heterosexual. Should the fact that the Wikileaks source is homosexual reflect on all homosexuals? Should the fact that there have been heterosexual leakers and spies reflect on all heterosexuals?

Rubbish. Many homosexuals will still be vulnerable to blackmail.

It’s also an indisputable fact that homosexual behavior is intrinsically disordered. That fact reflects on all active homosexuals. The fact that some heterosexuals have engaged in disordered behavior does not change the fact the homosexual behavior is intrinsically disordered.

It is not indisputable, I dispute it. Many others dispute it too.

Would an open homosexual be vulnerable to blackmail any more than an open heterosexual?
Homosexual behavior is a paraphilia. Many suffering from paraphilia are not “open.” Are you demanding that all homosexuals be publicly outed?

I’m not demanding that all homosexuals are publicly outed. I’m saying that open homosexuals are no more vulnerable to blackmail than an open heterosexual. A closet homosexual might be vulnerable to blackmail, which is more reason to ensure DADT is never brought back.

You would have to “out” all homosexuals in order to eliminate those vulnerable to blackmail. You’re affirming the argument against permitting active homosexuals in the military. Is that your intent?

No, I’m saying that an open homosexual is not a blackmail threat. Once the repeal to DADT has gone through, there is no way to blackmail a homosexual since their job is not under threat if their homosexuality is revealed. Explain to me exactly how an open homosexual is a security threat.
