My son and I saw the movie yesterday – loved it!

And I think setting up voter registration opportunities at the movies is a great idea. More Americans need to be voting, and getting people registered is the first step.

Bravo. Molto bene. Bravo.

Seems like a good idea. Can’t wait to see the movie myself. Someone would have been smart to do this for the Star Wars movies too, or any other big blockbuster. Sporting events, anywhere big crowds are expected. The more people registered to vote the better.

I haven’t seen the movie but In any case I say ditto in regards to all those who say the more voters registered and who vote the better.

I can’t even believe the movie theater would allow this because if you do it once, you have to do it for every group that wants to do voter registration. Do not know know you would stop others from doing the same at all movies.

Seems they are taking something that should be just enjoyable and making it political. It is a shame.

Why is it a shame? If other groups want to register voters and get permission from the theater, good for them. Unless they are actually requiring voter registration to purchase a ticket, they are not “making it political.”

Weren’t the advertisements at the showing of movies used to promote buying war bonds during WWII? And to support other avenues of supporting the troops on the homefront? Civic duty and all that. 😊

I see nothing wrong with this. I don’t know the statistics, but assume the group is addressing those they feel are underrepresented.

Have you seen the movie? They don’t get much more political than Black Panther.

Which isn’t to say it isn’t a great movie. It’s a phenomenal film, maybe Marvel’s best since Captain America, but that film is intentionally and proudly political.

Still not seeing a problem here. Helping people register to vote is a good thing – it is not “political” unless they are only allowing people to register as a Republican, or Democrat, or Libertarian or something. Or if they’re only allowing people of specific races to register.

Seriously, voter registration – encouraging people to get involved and have their voices heard through their votes – is a very, very good thing whether it’s at a grocery store, a movie theater, or the city and county building.

Why could it be political. I’v seen many, many of the Marvel and DC movies, love them. I’ve never seen anything political in them. The Black Panther was in the Advenger’s movie.

Used to be a time when you went to the movies, it was just for fun.

Don’t the politicians have enough places they can get voter registrations at, why are we now going to be doing this at all our movie theaters. This is just the beginning.

I think you need to watch that movie. It is overtly political, and in a number of ways (even broaching the often difficult topic of how Africans view African Americans).

Never thought Captain America was political no more than the Hulk. Black Panther was already in the Avenger movie and never saw anything political about him but he was a great character.

Have not seen the new Marvel movie yet.

I didn’t say Captain America was political (though it is pretty jingoistic). I’m referring specifically to Black Panther.

But the politicians aren’t the ones getting voter registrations. It’s usually groups of citizens who want to encourage people to register to vote. I’m still not seeing why this is any more a problem than Girl Scouts selling cookies, or a Salvation Army bellringer, or veterans with poppies … all of which I’ve seen at local theaters. In fact, I’d say it was a really positive thing.

This is a great thing. Encouraging more people to take part in their civic duties is good.

Since they want to register Black voters I guess they are counting on the prejudice of a significant number of Blacks who will go to a movie just because it happens to feature a lot of Black actors? If Whites wanted to register White voters because a movies featured White actors that would of course be racist. Luckily for the group wanting to register voters logic and consistency don’t play a role in the racist game.
