In Houston, Texas, the Station Museum of Contemporary Art is showing a photograph titled “P*** Jesus,” by Andres Serrano, internationally renowned artist and fallen-away Catholic. The ‘artwork’ is a photograph of a crucifix of the Lord Jesus immersed in a jar of the artist’s urine.
This current exhibition is only the most recent. Serrano’s blasphemous work was first exhibited at the Stux Gallery in New York in 1987, where it was well received. Over time, “P*** Jesus” has been shown repeatedly at various high-profile galleries in the US, garnering praise and acclaim from the liberal establishment.
In 2012, when “P*** Jesus” was exhibited at the Edward Tyler Nahem Art Gallery in New York City, TFP Student Action Director John Ritchie said, "It’s not art, but blasphemy. It’s a symptom of our culture’s spiritual rot and it’s shameful that world leaders issue verbose statements in defense of Muhammad, while remaining silent about this crude insult against the Sacred Person of Our Lord Jesus Christ. In fact, the offensive piece received $15,000 from the National Endowment of the Arts, which includes tax payer dollars. How is that for a double standard?”
The American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property continues to organize protests and public acts of reparation. However, the liberal media has insisted on rendering the protests invisible to the public.
Please join the Catholic laity in prayer, penance, and reparation for these heinous acts of blasphemy and apostasy. We must console Our Lord – for the terrible insult which he is suffering, and for the way in which the American people at large have betrayed him.
