Blessed Pascha to All! Christ is Risen!

Weeeeee! He is truly risen!

I visited the Antiochian Orthodox church with friends last night for my first Pascha AND first Divine Liturgy experience all in one. Beautiful…and the food was good too! 😃

And with Hebrew, Greek, English, and Arabic going on, it only made it more clear to me that being able to understand the language of the liturgy is not very important. I knew when a reading was happening. I was always fairly certain what scriptures were being read. I could see the consecration. And the symbolism of candles and incense is universal.

It humbles me that we Westerners are bickering about Latin v vernacular when our Eastern brothers have just taken it all in stride. You are a wonderful testament to the universality of the Gospel.

Interesting. Do you know which part was in Hebrew? I’ve never heard of Hebrew being used at a Divine Liturgy before.

I wish I knew! It may have been one of the chants that one of the choirs sang. I asked my friend which languages I was hearing and he listed them, including Hebrew.

Something else I found very cool: We have a large Vietnamese Catholic population here. Why was I surprised to see Vietnamese Orthodox?! Der! 😛
