This article was spot on!

This quote says it all:

I am not allowed to post on Voris’s website. Not that I care.

👍

More excellent parts:

“But it seems the major business of the Catholic Internet is condemnation. And we condemn each other more than anyone else. Look at Churchmilitant.com. Why would anyone want to be Catholic after reading all that negative garbage?”

"I find very little on the Catholic Internet that is enlightening or uplifting. "👍👍

" Certainly there is a time for instruction and correction. But the Catholic Internet is not interested in instruction or correction. They feel they know it all. I see no humility anywhere. Never is there a mea culpa "

Interesting article.

I think she’s wrong to discount everything that rad-trad sites have to say, but I agree that most of them go overboard. That said, she also seems to go overboard in her own writings, such as claiming that EWTN “jumped the Shark” and is no longer Catholic.

As much as she decries sectarianism in this post, her own writings seem to be sectarian in nature. It just feels like she went from one extreme to the other.
I realize now that people are only going to accept what they want to believe because no one is really searching for the truth. People only want to hear whatever will confirm what they already believe.
Sounds about right.

Too Bad. I’d never read her blog before.

She sounds defeated. I will pray for her.

She seems to imply that all Catholic media condemns, but I haven’t encountered that much except for some extreme websites.

I admit I’ve had a very similar experience with Catholic sites. I even have to take regular breaks from here because some posters here really lack basic consideration when having a discussion and it robs me of joy. I keep coming back in hopes of finding like-minded people…

I want to offer this up, though, and that is it’s not unique to Catholicism. EVERY Internet community seems to have these struggles. I’ve seen it on other religious boards, hobby communities, political groups where everyone should agree, and even pregnancy/marriage/homemaking boards. Once people get the power to ban others, hide behind a screen, or disappear behind well-plotted out words…truly horrible things can be done and said that one would never do. Keeping my own sin in mind - I am not innocent of this myself. It’s another reason I take regular breaks from here.

I hope the blogger returns. I never heard of her before! Breaks are good for the soul, even Jesus himself would retreat for prayer and rest.

Everyone want’s everyone else to see the truth…unfortunately, too many view their opinion as the only truth, and are intolerant of everyone else’s truth, which they view as short of the truth.

Disclaimer – I am expressing my opinion and not looking for validaiton or argument, so I limit my (name removed by moderator)ut to a single post per thread. Send me a PM, and I will be happy to continue the discussion without monopolizing this fine venue.

Not sure why this guy makes such a big deal of being banned off Fr Z’s site. I’m quite capable of reading posts on there and saying either “hmm that’s cool or useful” or “meh, looks like Father has gone a bit off the beam today”, dismiss it as one priest’s opinion, and move on. Same with Voris, Fr. Heilman, Fr. Martin, Cardinal Sarah, anyone else I bother to read. I don’t have any big need to post comments and be all like “Someone is Wrong on the Internet!” unless they actually misstate church teaching, which I have not seen happen.
