(CNN)Several boats taking part in a Trump support parade on Lake Travis in Texas have sunk, officials said Saturday.

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office tweeted that it responded to multiple calls involving boats in distress during the parade.

“Several boats did sink,” the TCSO tweet said.

Kristen Dark, the senior public information officer for the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, told CNN that officials were responding to “many emergency calls for boats in distress” and confirmed that several have sunk.

A Facebook page for the event said more than 2,600 people planned to attend.

There was no immediate information on injuries.

Lake Travis is northwest of Austin
 
I saw a video of the parade. There were a lot of boats. Off hand, I would guess this will be nothing more than eager people taking out boats less than seaworthy (lakeworthy?) and/or alcohol. In a crowd this big something like this is not surprising.

This gives me the impression that perhaps a small number if boats were faulty and the faults were discovered at about the same time since they were out there at once.

Just as a point of nomenclature, isn’t a boat ‘parade’ properly known as a flotilla?

I was being a little facetious; I’m not really sure why those toilets are called Turkish (or even if we call them that in English - I think I learned that appelation in France).

But back to the topic - I’m glad nobody drowned.

Bathroom is used in the US although no one takes a bath in that small amount of water. 🙂
 
I think that dates from when the design of toilets was such that there was a big tank of water near the ceiling and you pulled on a metal cord to flush. Hence, a closet full of water.
